Ok, my best friend lent me her camera, so I took some progress pictures. I added some I’ve never posted before, some front ones from may. That first one says may 2006, but it should say 2007. I have my enell sports bra on, so the side one looks a little funny. Oh, forgot to add, the recent ones were taken this morning. I am 195.8.

I was sooo excited that morning. I literally skipped out of the house after I kissed DH and baby good bye. My best friend had to drag her BF out of bed to get him to come and take pictures, but he was there, although he slept in the car for most of the race. He took a picture of us before and as we crossed the finish line. You will see that I blurred out my friend’s face as I don’t like posting other people’s pics but my own online.

There were a lot of runners when the gun went off and people just seemed to shoot off past us. There was a small group behind us and sometimes they would occasionally walk. At the 2.5 mile mark, I really wanted to walk. This is kind of disgusting, but whenever I increase my mileage, I get mucousy and just really need to get rid of it. That happened during the run and I ran by the grass and got rid of it. Along the way I noticed that other people apparently have the same problem, but don’t bother spitting in the grass (yeck!!) Anyway, my best friend was battling her own demons in the form of a side stitch. I asked her a couple of times if she wanted to walk,but she gave a firm and hearty no, so we kept going.

We saw the finish line in site and the clock read 35 minutes. I couldn’t believe it. I said “Does that say 35 minutes??!?!” We were shocked because while training, it took us both at least 12-14 minutes to do a mile, so we figured we’d be in at about 45 minutes. That gave me renewed energy, so I said “Let’s try and make it before 37 minutes!” and I took off. There was a man at the finish line with a bullhorn and I couldn’t hear what he was saying, but for some reason I thought he was tellnig me to slow down. So I did a little bit, thinking that he was thinking that I was going to overdo it. Then my dumb ass got confused about which finish line to go through. How did I not know that there were 2? One for walkers and one of runners. So my best friend ended up zooming past me a second ahead of me. Not a biggie, but I have to laugh at my stupidity.

 

Ug, I realize how big I am next to my friend whenever we take pictures together. Isn’t she tiny? Oh well, one day maybe :) Thanks for listening and the encouragement :)

Don’t have time to write much, but I just wanted to update that I ran the 5k, the whole way! That was the first time I ran a whole 3 miles (3.1 actually!) so I was very happy. I thought originally that it would take me 45 minutes, based on my time with the stroller, but I finished in 37 minutes! My best friend ran the whole way too, we were too happy. Details and pics to come later. Love ya’ll!!! I couldn’t have done it without your support. I’m already looking into the next one to run!

I went running even though it was totally miserable outside. 45 degrees, overcast, drizzling. I waited until it stopped raining and went running on the hilly area again, and it wasn’t as bad. It did start to rain around the 2 mile mark and the baby was getting pretty wet, so I decided to stop. I really need to get a stroller cover. I went to Walmart that morning to get one, but they didn’t have any.

Tomorrow is the big day! The 5k! I am 3 shades of nervous, but even if I don’t run the whole thing, I will have tons of fun. I’ll try to write more later.

How I hate thee, High Fructose Corn Syrup. I have been trying to avoid you like the plague and yet I forget how devious you are. How, you ask? Well for one thing, I didn’t know that you were hiding in both my raisin bran and my bran flakes. How dare you?! You were also hiding in Mrs. Stratton’s chicken salad, so I decided to make my own, free of you, only to discover that you were in my pickle relish and mayonnaise… the nerve.

HFCS, you are not wanted. Please stay away or I will take action.

Seriously, why do they have to put that crap in everything?

how I was so anxious to be in the 190s and now I am SO ready to be done with them. I weighed in this morning at 196.0. That’s about a 3 pound loss this month. Not stellar, but I will take it. Better than a gain. Today is usually the day of the month that I would post progress pictures, but I don’t have my camera, so that’s a no-go. My best friend, who will also be running in the 5k this saturday (her first one as well), will be having her bf come with a camera and we’re going directly to the store afterwards to print them out. Also, I’ll get her to email them to me, so I can post them here. Hopefully, he can get one of us running, that would be so neat :)

I know I haven’t been posting a lot here (thanks melody for noticing :) ), but I have been trying to participate more in the biggest loser challenge on the main board. I had been kind of neglecting it and that makes me feel guilty, because people depend on you there for support. Of course, my team, the red team has been dwindling away to just a few active people, so this makes me want to participate even more. I really enjoy it, but I dont want to neglect my blog either, since all of you ladies have always been such a help to me and I love reading about your lives and struggles.

Running has been going well. I’m up to 2.3 miles, though that takes me about 30 minutes lol. I am pretty sure that I will not run the whole 5k, but I will finish,by golly! I did 2 miles yesterday with the stroller on a very hilly course, with small amount of drizzling and lots of wind. It was a miserable, wet day, but I would take it over the heat we’ve been having.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I now have a job! Just PRN (meaning I fill in the gaps here and there) in an NICU, not the same one that I used to work in that I loved so much, but it’s something to help me keep my skills up and get a little Christmas money. I start orientation monday after next. It’ll probably be a once a week deal.

I haven’t had a soda in 3 days. The fact that we ran out yesterday helped lol. I’ve been drinking coffee and water, that’s it. Hmm, I think that’s all of my boring life. Time to check up on my girls!

Humid today

I went for a run this morning, really had to push myself to leave the house, but once I got there, it was all good :) Of course, it was nearly 80 degrees this morning and SUPER humid, so I didn’t do my normal 30 minutes. I did 20 instead. And I did my yoga before hand. The book I have actually has a series of excercises for runners, so it’s pretty neat. I’ve been sticking to that.

I left my camera at my inlaws house, like an idiot. Not only can I not get pics of DS, but I can’t do my progress pictures…bleh! I don’t know when we will be going back down there again. I am tempted to just buy a disposable camera, and take pics with those. Oh well, we will see…

Wow

I can’t believe it’s been like 4 days since I last posted here. Well, here I am, better late than never.

I won’t lie. The last couple of days, I’ve struggled to stay on course. I’ve not neglected my exercise. I still do my yoga and went running day before yesterday. And plan to do it again in the morning. My eating has been less than satisfactory and I’ve been drinking soda :( As always, the eating this is a work in progress.
DH said I could probably join a gym. As much as I hate the idea of running on a treadmill, I really need some stroller free days and the gym has a daycare. This will also give DS time with other kids and get him used to not being with me all the time (it’s got to happen eventually right?)

Anyhoo, I’m going to try a 30 minutes run again tomorrow. I did 30 minutes Sunday morning, and those last couple of minutes were HARD, but I did it. So, that’s going to be what I shoot for now for a couple of weeks. 5k is next saturday!

The soda is calling my name

And who can’t answer when a good friend calls? No, we are not friends anymore. I am not drinking you, soda, so stop calling me!

Trying something new with my hair today, it’s bound to be a disaster, but I’m tired of the same old same old. Which is one of the reasons I changed my blog lay out.

On the schedule for tomorrow:

Pick up my book on tai chi and yoga

Take baby to the park–run 30 minutes (I CAN DO IT!) and let him play in the play ground afterwards

Eat healthy, tell soda to forget it knows my name

Do yoga before my run

Hope my hair isn’t a total disaster

Ug, here’s somethign depressing…I’ve only lost 2 lbs compared to a month ago. Where does the time go?! Oh well, I still have about 2 weeks until my next set of progress pictures, so here’s hoping!
