The Daily Plate

General 1 Comment »

I’ve decided to start using this to track my calorie intake. I’m not going to worry about the breastfeeding calories since baby is not nursing all that much. In fact, I think that may be my problem…I’m not burning 500 extra calories through nursing anymore. So tomorrow I will start tracking calories on the daily plate. I tried to do day 2 of C25K, but the baby is teething and was not a happy guy. I did 5 minute warm up and ran 10 minutes before he’d had enough. I’m going to try and workout tonight and then either repeat day 2 or go on to day 3 tomorrow morning. This is going to be a busy week… We have a first birthday party to plan (yay!) and a housewarming for a friend. Not much else to say, I’m going to fool around with the daily plate for a bit. I hope everyone has  a great weekend.

Maybe this has been my problem

Hehe. Today hasn’t been to bad though. I really haven’t been eating that much. We have a house guest (friend of DH’s) coming to stay for a couple of days and I’ve been getting things ready for him. Unfortunately,that means a bit of junk food in the house. But I made sure to get things that I don’t like.

I did week 6, day 1 of couch to 5k. It was pretty good.  I went to a different track today, one that says it’s .575 miles long. I just wanted to see how far I was going and how close I was to running a 5k (3.1 miles). I did 2.3 miles today, so that’s not bad I guess. I can’t wait to see how far I can jog once I start doing the full 30 minutes. Anyhoo, here is day 2’s :

Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:

  • Jog 1 mile (or 10 minutes)
  • Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
  • Jog 1 mile (or 10 minutes)

Well, off to the library, not much to post today.

It seems like something that will really motivate me. I’ve come to a standstill it seems, stuck between 204 and 205. I do think I’ve lost inches, but I really want that number to come down. I also want some of this belly fat to go AWAY since it’s the most dangerous type (and most unattractive). I decided to do a rest day today. I’m totally off my workout schedule, but I’ve had some stress lately and need to take it a little easy today. Tomorrow, I will start day 1 of week 6.

I just found out that my favorite bread Nature’s Own Double Fiber Bread has high fructose corn syrup!  A big no-no on my list. Why I have never read the ingredients before, I have no clue. I guess I just never thought that would be in bread touted to be healthy.

Ug time to clean the house….

C25K- last day of week 5

The 20 minute run was today and it was a doozy. I stopped at 10 minutes for a sip of water and then continued on. The last 10 minutes I was slow as a turtle, but still jogging and that’s what’s important, right? :)

Here’s week 6, day 1

Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:

* Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
* Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
* Jog 3/4 mile (or 8 minutes)
* Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
* Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)

There’s one more day with intervals and then the rest is just whole sets of running. One small problem is that my jogging stroller’s wheels are super squeaky. People can hear me coming from a mile away. It’s kind of funny, though I think I need to get some WD40. I feel delightfully tired now, but I need to do my weights.

Menu:

6:00 banana
8:00 bran flakes w/2 percent milk (we are out of skim!)
9:30 Cup of hot green tea
10:15 soy peach yogurt
11:00 baked chicken breast w/ lima beans, half of a baked sweet potatoe
2:00 small bowl of bran flakes, 1/4 banana
4:30 baked chicken breast w/ mixed veggies, half a sweet potatoe
to be continued

Maybe I will get into trouble for writing this…

But what is up with the proana info on the boards? There is a very disturbing post on the boards from someone who says she doesn’t really care if her life is cut short as long as she gets to be skinny,which she already appears to be. She continually posts about how she’s fat, and wants to be underweight. I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I would’ve thought such terrible things would not have been allowed on the board. I realize she’s got problems, but there must be something that can be done. I could see even if she were trying to stop her problems (because you wouldn’t turn away someone who was a binge eater on the opposite end of the spectrum) but she is proud of her desire to be a skeleton. And there are some definite cries for attention and she’s getting plenty of it. God, I really hate it that I told a teenage (18) friend about 3fc…I would hate anyone to be influenced by that deluded thinking.

Amazed…

If you want to start running, please, please please try this program. It is amazing. I ran 8 minutes today without even thinking about it, walked 5 and then another 8 with only slight fatigue. I remember when I was doing the 60 seconds, how I would want to give up. I can’t believe how far I’ve come. This program is wonderful.

Ok that’s the positives, here are the negatives:

My eating is out of control!!! Maybe that is an overstatement, but I am eating a lot, although it’s all healthy foods. I must have had 3 bowls of cereal yesterday! Every time I do it I think “Oh snacking is good for blood sugar stability” but I’m doing way too much. Still no period, so maybe my hormones are acting up? Bleh, I don’t know anymore. (NO I’m not pregnant lol. I have an IUD and I already took a pg test a couple of days ago). I also really feel bloated and I can tell my fingers are puffy.

Anyway, back to the eating. I want to do Atkins badly, but baby is still nursing quite a bit. If I could get him down to once a day, I wouldn’t feel bad doing it. Time will tell I guess.

First, Iwant to say how much all of your comments mean to me. I get more support on this blog then I would ever find in real life and I know it’s what helps me to stay on track. I did pretty good on Day 1 of week 5. Tomorrow (or the next day I do it) goes like this:

Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:

  • Jog 3/4 mile (or 8 minutes)
  • Walk 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
  • Jog 3/4 mile (or 8 minutes)

Seems simple enough, huh? lol…

I felt great afterwards and went to the grocery store  where of course I run into someone I haven’t seen in awhile. Why is that when I look my worst, I always see someone  I know? And this morning, I just let the baby go in his t-shirt and pajama pants, so he looked like a bum too. Plus I was all sweaty. I just really didn’t expect to see anyone I knew at 6:30 in the morning. Oh well! I bought this soybean butter (like peanut butter) that I can’t wait to try out. I wanted to see if baby would like it and it’s just a healthier option. Money’s a little tight this month, so I will probably be eating some type of sandwich for lunch everyday.

Still no period and still at the same weight. But my clothes fit better, waist size is smaller and bodyfat percentage is down to 45% (that’s down 1.5 percent), so something must be going right. I don’t do the body fat thing everday, maybe every couple of weeks. *yawn* time for a nap!

Tomorrow, Tomorrow…

I’ll love myself tomorrow. Oh what the heck, let’s start tonight. I ate a lot of crap, but like BoSoxFan said, time to dust myself off. I’ve decided to go ahead and start week 5 of C25k. Unlike the previous weeks, this one is different for each day of the week and the last day is just a 20 minute run (yikes!!) The first day doesn’t look that bad. It goes like this:

Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:

  • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
  • Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
  • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
  • Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
  • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)

I think I can do this, I’m just going to have to get out there early. The heat is a real exercise deterrent. That’s all for now I  will post my results in the morning.

Totally disgusted with myself

Today was terrible. I ate like a pig and now I feel like one. I think it started when I didn’t exercise like I planned. Though I am ashamed to post this, here is all that I ate today. And it’s a lot, but I have to own up to it.

bowl of raisin bran

big plate of spaghetti

lean cuisine meal

another big plate of spaghetti

a huge chunk of watermelon

a slew of diet sodas

a tuna sub, chips, and 3 chocolate chip cookies

a lollipop

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? Why did I do this today? I’m not feeling a huge amount of stress, I just feel tired. Argh, I’m starting tonight instead of tomorrow. I’m going to drink lots of water and do some housework. Maybe that will make me feel better. Tomorrow I do groceries and start eating like I know I should again.

I ran my last day of c25k week 4. It went worst than last  time and I think I  know why…we got there too late and it was 84 degrees…also I dropped my water bottle repeatedly and ended up throwing it away, so no water and hotter than usual are not a good mix. OH and then I decided I was going to do hills the whole way, which made my legs feel like rubber. So, end result was that I didn’t do the last minute and 20 seconds of the final 5 minute run. I am still trying to decide if I should just go ahead into week 5 or do one more day of week 4.  I really think I could’ve done it if I hadn’t had such bad conditions.

I went out with a friend of mine and her baby to eat and walk around the mall. It was fun, I ended up eating a veggie burger and a couple of fries. I also wore a pretty skirt that I got from a consignment store.  I remember being so jealous of this friend because while we were both pregnant, she lost tons of weight and I gained tons. We were about the same size starting off. Of course, I know losing tons of weight is not that great during pregnancy, but I was jealous all the same. Well, she’s put on a ton more weight since I’ve seen her. She was telling me how she was going to do the Atkins diet to lose her weight, at least her version of it. It’s pretty much her eating nothing but meat and cheese…no wonder people have a skewed version of the Atkins diet. Anyhoo, here’s what the menu was today:

B: bowl of veggie soup

S: cantaloupe

L: veggie burger (ruby tuesday’s…on a wheat bun with cheese and garlic mayo), a couple of fries

S: watermelon

D: 2 thin baked pork chops, baked potatoes, a little bit more cantaloupe
