Dr. Oz?
Exercise, General July 23rd, 2007I’ve said before on this blog that I am a big fan of Dr. Oz. I’ve read his weight loss book and occasionally thumb through this other book. I just saw an episode of Oprah where he said it’s ok to suck in when you’re measuring your waist (at the bellybutton) because you can’t suck in fat. He also said that the ideal waist size is 1/2 of your height. I am 5′7 so my ideal waist measurement is 33.5 inches or lower. I really don’t remember that from the book, I will have to re-read it. Tomorrow morning I will re-measure myself and see what it is sucking in.
Exercise: I did 35 minutes of the running program: 10 minute warm up, 20 minutes alternating 60 seconds of jogging, 90 seconds of walking, followed by a 5 minute cool down walk. Lifted some weights when I came home. I made my own little workout, using 10 pound dumbells:
10 X 3 sideraises and frontraises
12 X3 bicep curls
12 X 3 upward rows
12 X 3 shoulder presses
12 X 3 tricep kickbacks
50 crunches on the stability ball
25 bicycle crunches

Hey! Great job! It sounds like you are doing great at the running program. Your meals are sounding tasty and right on track too. It’s inspiring to read about the progress. I am still working on my motivation to start running. I have to water down the plan a bit to fit my needs. I am so happy though that you are able to do the plan and you will definitely be seeing the results!

I like Oz, too. He’s both informative AND fun.
