The Lists
These lists are based on a post by Diet Buddy Daily about one of the steps of the Beck Plan she’s following.
Advantages of losing weight:
Get my blood sugar level down.
Feel more like doing something, anything.
Recover more fully from my hip replacement. (I’d like to be more like Tom Watson in this regard.)
Go to Italy next year and be able to walk all over and see everything.
Not be afraid to walk on the beach - a fall won’t be a crisis because I’ll be able to get up without help.
Have fun buying clothes and getting dressed.
Stop worrying about fitting into an airplane seat.
Stop worrying about my weight, stop obsessing about losing weight. That eats up so much time and energy.
Disadvantages of dieting:
I can’t eat all of what I want, when I want, where I want BUT that’s the price I have to pay to lose weight and to stop worrying about weight and diet. PLUS under my plan I can eat anything I want - no foods are off limits.
I can’t eat chips and dip while watching football or wine and cheese or a cup of tea and a cookie while reading on the deck or popcorn at the movies BUT I can still watch football, read on the deck, and go to the movies. The food in those situations is really just a habit not part of the pleasure.
I can’t eat a cucumber slice when my husband is making salads or grab a couple of grapes when I wander through the kitchen BUT that’s what I have to do to straighten out my eating patterns. (This one is very, very hard for me.)
I can’t have wine at the end of a bad day BUT there’s no rule against a short nap or just lying down for 15 minutes with a book.
