Every day. One rule, six goals.
Monday, October 19, 2009, was Day 23 of my 100-day plan. Here’s how I did.
Rule: No Internet until after 4:30pm and then only if I’ve done my exercises and taken my walks.
I failed miserably at this. I can’t be too upset about it since I was inspired to write for the first time in a couple of weeks but on the other hand I never even thought about my exercises or my walking.
Goals
1) Get as low a score as possible on Behavior Modification.
My score was 13 (a perfect score is 0). This score is Good. I recorded three meals/snacks late.
2) Specific food goals:
Drink only one 12-ounce Coca-Cola. - Goal met - I had only one 12-ounce coke on Monday.
No wine with dinner. - Goal met - I did not have wine with dinner on Monday.
Have a piece of fruit with breakfast. - Goal met - I had fruit with breakfast on Monday.
If I have tea with my mid-morning snack or before bed, have only a small (5-6 ounce) cup rather than a large mug. - Goal not met - I had a large mug of tea with my before bed snack on Monday.
3) Every day except Sunday do a set of exercises.
Goal not met - I did not exercise on Monday.
4) Two 6-minutes walks every day.
Goal not met - I did not walk on Monday.
5) Read “The Lists” every day.
Goal met - I read “The Lists” on Monday.
6) Check in with 3 Fat Chicks. After 4:30pm of course.
Goal met - I checked in on Monday.

My goals remain the same except that now I’m drinking 1 cup of water before each meal and snack, up from 3/4 cup.
Oops - forgot something. I’m adding one new goal:
Read “The Lists” every day. This is one of my pages and reminds me why I’m doing all this.

Sunday, October 18, 2009, was Day 22 of my 100-day plan. Here’s how I did.
Rule: No Internet until after 4:30pm and then only if I’ve done my exercises and taken my walks.
Rule not followed - way too much time on the Internet.
Goals
1) Get as low a score as possible on Behavior Modification.
Hmm. For some strange reason I simply stopped writing stuff down around the middle of the day yesterday. I didn’t go crazy and start eating everything in sight - I just stopped recording it. My best guess is that my score was around 30 (a perfect score is 0). This score is Good - although not writing stuff down is not.
2) Specific food goals:
Drink only one 12-ounce Coca-Cola. - Goal not met - I had two 12-ounce Cokes on Sunday.
No wine with dinner. - Goal not met - I had a glass of red wine with dinner on Sunday.
Have a piece of fruit with breakfast. - Goal not met - I did not have fruit with breakfast on Sunday.

I’ve been looking back through Diet Buddy Daily’s Beck lessons category and I found a post called “Say NO CHOICE to unplanned eating”. DBD quotes a couple of line from that Beck lesson:
- You made a plan, and you’ll follow that plan — no if’s, ands or buts
- Following a rule eliminates the struggle over what to eat or not
Those lines really jumped out at me. When I recently talked to my endocrinologist about losing weight, she said the same thing:
- A structured program is good because there are no decisions to make about eating. It’s out of your hands.
It’s actually kind of a restful idea.

Saturday, October 17, 2009, was Day 21 of my 100-day plan. Here’s how I did.
Rule: No Internet until after 4:30pm and then only if I’ve done my exercises and taken my walks.
I did pretty well with this in terms of avoiding the Internet - except for 3 Fat Chicks - until after 4:30pm.
Goals
1) Get as low a score as possible on Behavior Modification.
My score was 25 (a perfect score is 0). This score is Good. I missed breakfast and had two food items out of the allowed times.
2) Specific food goals:
Drink only one 12-ounce Coca-Cola. - Goal met - I had only one 12-ounce coke on Saturday.
No wine with dinner. - Goal not met - I had a glass of red wine with dinner on Saturday.
Have a piece of fruit with breakfast. - Goal not met - I did not have fruit with breakfast on Saturday.
If I have tea with my mid-morning snack or before bed, have only a small (5-6 ounce) cup rather than a large mug. - Goal not met - I had a large mug of tea with my before bed snack on Saturday.
3) Every day except Sunday do a set of exercises.
Goal not met - I did not exercise on Saturday.

Goal met and exceeded- I did three 6-minutes walks on Saturday.

I posted earlier that when I visited my endocrinologist on Tuesday her scales showed my weight had gone up since I saw her three months ago. I saw another doctor on Thursday (ugh, two doctors’ appointments in one week) and her scale said my weight was exactly what it had been three months ago.
I’ve decided to believe my endocrinologist’s scale for the sake of helping me focus on my Behavior Mod, food, walking, and exercise goals but believe my other doctor’s scale for the sake of making how much I want to lose seem a tiny bit less overwhelming.

Rule: No Internet until after 4:30pm and then only if I’ve done my exercises and taken my walks.
I didn’t stick with this on Friday and everything else suffered partly as a result.
Goals
1) Get as low a score as possible on Behavior Modification.
My score was 12 (a perfect score is 0). This score is Good.

Rule: No Internet until after 4:30pm and then only if I’ve done my exercises and taken my walks.
I didn’t stick with this today and was promptly punished: the Internet site I was visiting shut down my browser.
Goals
1) Get as low a score as possible on Behavior Modification.
My score was 16 (a perfect score is 0). This score is Good.
2) Specific food goals:
Drink only one 12-ounce Coca-Cola. - Goal not met - I had two 12-ounce cokes today.
No wine with dinner. - Goal met - I did not have wine with dinner.
Have a piece of fruit with breakfast. - Goal met - I had fruit with breakfast.
If I have tea with my mid-morning snack or before bed, have only a small (5-6 ounce) cup rather than a large mug. - I didn’t have either snack today.

Tuesday, October 13, 2009, was Day 17 of my 100-day plan. The only thing I accomplished was to hang onto my Behavior Modification - by my fingernails. My score was 38 (a perfect score is 0). This score is Fair.
