Yesterday went quickly at work.  After work I went home and ate my leftover half burrito from Monday’s lunch.  I went to the movies w/ my water and Milk Duds.

The movie “The Time Traveler’s Wife” was pretty good, or shall I say better than I thought it would be, given that comparisons of a movie vs. the book are almost never favorable towards the movie.  I think I would have been confused if I hadn’t read the book though.  The ending was sad, of course, and from within our group of 10 (!) came the sounds of sniffling and nose-blowing.  I teared up a bit, but I actually though they could have made it even more heartwrenching, lol.

At work, I had exchanged voicemails w/ my health insurance company last week, but they finally reached me yesterday.  I was asked if I was interested in a lifestyle management program – smoking cessation or weight loss.  I’m not a smoker, but weight loss is right up my alley, so I said yes.  I provided some information about me and my habits and my health, and we discussed goals.  I will now have a coach of sorts phoning me at regular intervals for I think maybe nine months.  My initial goals are to exercise 3 times a week for 30 min. each time and to schedule my annual gyne exam (which I usually do around this time of year and just never made an appointment).  So this will be good for me.

It’s another nice day today.  I cleared my October vacation days w/ my boss yesterday, and now I’m wondering when the nice days will be running out – just in time for my vacation days?  Given I had sucky weather during my time off last month, it’s natural I’m concerned about this.  But at least I’ve got the days on my calendar – it’s official.

It’s quiet here today.  The boss is gone, the other manager is out today and the new admin is at her morning class.  I just went to help out a colleague with the features on the software package we use and I was silently marveling at how spacious his workstation looks.  The same size cubicle as mine.  Only his isn’t packed to the gills with files all over the place.  What a difference.  Hopefully it’ll motivate me to purge what I don’t need and actually utilize my two empty file drawers instead of the desktop.

Nothing going on today.  I think our departmental meeting is cancelled since the boss & manager aren’t here today.  Nothing planned for tonight.  I will do a dog walk or the gym.  Oh, by the way, I can’t do “serious” (man) pushups.  I do the modified (aka girly) pushups on my knees, not my toes. I figure if I work up to being able to easily do three sets of those, then I’ll start doing some of the man pushups.  And maybe someday I’d actually work up to the ones w/ the weight that LindaT does!

Sounds good to me- I wonder if my insurance has anything like that?

It’s hard to not compare a book to the movie. I read the “Julie and Julia” book and loved it, because it really did showcase how inept Julie was in the kitchen and why she did the whole thing in the first place. As for the movie–LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the storyline of Julia Child’s life, but LOATHED the parts about Julie; it was just so not along the lines of the book–very disappointing!
The thing about pushups, or anything else, is the more you ‘practice’ the better you get and the easier they become. Start with 10 on your knees, and then after that becomes easier, throw in a few no knees, and then do the weights. Me. More than anything else, I detest pushups! Love mountain climbers, planks, side planks, any thing but pushups!

I REALLLLLLY wanted to see TTW, but I heard that critics said that it was horrible? Maybe I should just read it first. I read My Sisters Keeper and did not see the movie, but the book was fantastic. I do plan on seeing it, in the comfort of my own home where I can bawl my eyes out and make a mess of myself! :)

That is neat about the insurance company!

Don’t be afraid to try. I was told to do man pushups LONG before I really was able to do them.. The main thing is to keep at it and the best way to get to do man pushups, well is BY doing them!
Glad he movie was good.. but did you need milk duds? I’m just sayin’.. :P

Hi Laura, not everything is done publicly in an online class, but for this particular assignment we had to write a short essay and post it on something similar to a message board where our classmates could read and respond. Everyone has to post their original essay, and then engage in discussion with at least two other posts. So, on the board for this particular assignment this person literally copied and pasted my essay, switched two words around, (literally!) and then substituted one example (which I googled and shockingly, it came up on numerous websites so that wasn’t her own either).
    Frustrating!

Oh, so glad to hear about the Time Travelers Wife. I suppose I’ll rent that on a day that Ed’s out of town. :P

I love traveling to small towns in October and getting ice cream cones. LOL. And we have a great German restaurant that we like driving to out in the country when the fall colors are the most vivid.

Where are you plans for your time off? :)
