Really had to think about what day it was.  On vacation they all run together.

Most of yesterday I was still in a sour mood about our lack of getaway plans and lack of interest in them by certain parties.  I puttered around for a bit in the morning - did a couple loads of laundry, did one Body Electric workout, showered -  and then got dressed and took doggy for a walk.  During the walk I turned on my phone and promptly got a sound that meant I had a voicemail.  My friend left a message that that her ex’s mother had passed away and to let me bf know, since her ex and bf were good childhood friends.

So we’ll be going to a wake this week.  The mother had moved to Milwaukee, and there will be a wake there on Wed. and a service back here on Thurs.  We’ve decided to change our getaway plans (however nebulous they were) and go to Milwaukee for the servce and then stay at a resort area that’s about halfway between Milw. and home.  We’ve gone there before and have decided to stay at the same inn we stayed at before.  That’s actually made me more relaxed - the familiarity and not having to find a good place to stay.  I was stressed about that when we were going to the other place, which was unfamiliar to either of us.

Anyway, after the dog walk, we had leftovers for lunch and then made a quick trip to Walmart.  I was thinking of going to Bed Bath and Beyond to shop for a new bathroom shower curtain & accessories, but it was such a nice day that I decided to just go home.  Then bf went in the yard and started with his phone calls, and knowing I’d get no peace and quiet, I decided to drive to the forest preserve.  But I forgot my water and then couldn’t remember the exact entrance location for the spot I wanted to go to (it’s a huge preserve area with several entrances), and so I drove around a bit and finally gave up.  At least it was a nice drive.

I ended up at Hobby Lobby near the house and bought the cord for the welting on my pillow cover.  After that I went to Kohl’s next door and bought a new pair of khakis.  I was trying to find other stuff to add up to $50 so I could get my $10 Kohl’s cash, lol, but nothing else jumped out at me - no other clothes, bath stuff, throw rugs, etc.  I’m a pathetic shopper, and maybe that’s a good thing, for the most part.  Except that I spent a lot of time there.

I got home and we had pizza for dinner.  Food and exercise have been very much off track.  Need to get back on track.

Today I downloaded photos from my camera to the computer and e-mailed some from the picnic to one of my brother’s friends.  I also have some photos of stuff I’ve sewed.  Heres’ some:

Wish I knew how to post the photos as a link.  Anyway, the first photo shows two ottomans, the left one as purchased secondhand, and the right showing the ottoman cover.  The second photo is my silly little paperback book cover, and the 3rd is my pj pants (sorry Tawnya, I’m both a horrible model AND photographer, so there’s no way I could photograph myself modeling these!).  After making the pj pants, I’m sort of underwhelmed.  I had the fabric forever and thought it was 100% cotton, but having worn them a few days, I think it might be a blend.  And I’m not sure I’m thrilled with how full the legs are.

Okay, today we’re touring a historic house and garden in a suburb west of us, so I better get moving.  Need to bring my camera for that!

Cute cute cute! The jammies are adorable and the fabric is perfect for sleepwear. (I feel weird modeling stuff too. The photos are perfect for their purpose!)

I was just thinking of making a cover for my vanity bench, but I have NO idea how to do it. After seeing yours, I am MOTIVATED to learn! lol… I like the idea of a book cover, especially when I read self-help crap. HAHA…

I’m glad you got out to see Julie and Julia. I think Meryl Streep might be one of my favorite actresses. I always find myself totally into her characters.

My great aunt lives in Milwaukee–Shirley Fields. I’ve not been there to see her yet though. I wonder if she knew your bf family…

    your sewing projects are cute!!!

Glad you are getting a bit of a trip, even though the circumstances are not that great. You are 100% correct in trying to plan and book a place somewhere you are not familiar…which is why I got your advice for Chicago! LOL Living near a big city, I guess you sort of realize, there are definitely bad areas you should avoid, but they don’t tell you that on the maps or travel sites. There are many areas of Cleveland, I do not even travel….

so funny that your hobby lobby is next to your kohls. You know, it is the same in my area too? LOL Weird.
