2 pounds :)

Posted by: kellygram In: Uncategorized

I lost 2 pounds this week, yay!
Have been counting calories for almost a week, though sometimes it’s hard to be precise when cooking with lots of ingredients. I’m going to try calorie cycling… I’m curious to see if there’s anything to it. I need to read up on it a little more.
Took today off, but [...]

can’t-should-bad

Posted by: kellygram In: Uncategorized

Good thing about counting calories: It forces you to think twice (or 3x) about what you put in your mouth.
Bad thing: The potential to obsess and trigger old demons. If the calorie tracking gets counter-productive, I’ll stop. I have a tendency to freak out over control stuff… like if I start to have lots of [...]

the 167-168-169 triangle

Posted by: kellygram In: Uncategorized

I am counting calories! I usually don’t except to ‘check in” now and then. But I need to get a handle on why the h*** I am stuck in 167-170 zone. Rrr! 6 weeks is long enough of bouncing up and down.
So after religiously tracking my food intake for several days, it’s clear that I’m [...]

back to nature

I think I’m bored with my workout routine.
When I first started exercising, I was on the treadmill every day.  Several weeks later, I found a second-hand recumbent bike. I set it up downstairs next to the treadmill, thinking I’d use it to keep my workout routine interesting. The first time I used it, my hip [...]

Me vs. Mom

Posted by: kellygram In: Uncategorized

I am really liking the “Thin for Life” book. There’s so much insight from “experts”, i.e. people who lost weight and kept it off. A part of me wonders if I’ll be like my mom… she diets, loses the weight pretty quick, and gains it right back once she reaches her goal weight. Her weight [...]

I’m reading “Thin for Life”, and so far really liking it. The author talked with over 100 dieters who had lost at least 30 lbs, and had kept it off at least 3 years. Their stories are woven throughout the book, about their success and struggles. Finding this book at the thrift store was perfect [...]

3 Good Things

Posted by: kellygram In: Uncategorized

3 Good Things today….
#1… Found 2 diet-related books today at the thrift store. “Fit for Life” “Thin for Life”, and a big book listing nutrition info on most foods. At $.25 each, quite a steal! The Thin for Life book seems pretty practical for losing weight and staying healthy, as in no quick fixes, no [...]

scale rant, m&m’s

Posted by: kellygram In: Uncategorized

I think my scale’s off. When I weighed in on Sunday, it said 169.5 (a 1 lb gain). Miffed, I moved it over like 6 inches and it went down a pound… wtf?? Moved it over onto the floor mat, and it said 163! DH had similar results. It’s a Con-Air “Thinner” digital scale, and [...]

60 day challenge

Posted by: kellygram In: Uncategorized

Two mornings ago I marched upstairs, determined… put on my workout clothes, grabbed a water and made my way down to the basement. I didn’t give my mind permission to wander around, thinking up reasons not to get my butt in gear. I got on the treadmill and watched Martha Stewart and cooking shows… after [...]

I went to Old Navy today to try some things on… and it totally made my day. I’ve been a size 16 for years, actually more like a size 15 if there was such a thing… too big for a 14, and 16’s were a tad loose in the waste.  But today I tried on [...]
