At work today. Too much to do, not enough time to do it. Plus, my day is cut short with an appt for Max that I cannot reschedule. Feeling the pressure, ugh.
Must maintain my schedule and allow myself some time to exercise this evening, regardless!
10:25 PM - Update.
JUST sitting down to start school work. Had a stressful day at work, returned home to find my backyard flooded and my fence collapsed. Seriously God? lol … then took Max to the dr, shots are not working out and he needs surgery. More $$$$, prob can’t do that till March. I DID GET IN MY WORKOUT! Food all day was good, except I could have drank a little more water. Off to study.
Tomorrow’s Goal: Work, exercise, and conquering ironing on/sewing on a dozen badges onto DD’s GS tunic. Yay.
Had to come here and read for a bit to get away from my psych course’s discussions. Things are getting heated and it is about animal testing and well, ugh. I just can’t get started.
Need. To. Calm. Down.
Going to walk on the treadmill!
Omgosh, afternoon … where has the day gone?? I had so much to accomplish today … about half done, so I guess I am okay. Have a few hours of schoolwork to do though, and I haven’t touched that yet.
Yesterday food was good, and so was exercise! Managed to get everything done. Made a healthy version of Lana’s Sweet and Sour Meatballs (allrecipes) with turkey and they were okay. (They were definitely better when I made it with beef on NYE) The sauce is really great though, and I double the carrots and peppers, and them make steamed broccoli too. SBFF visited, and we had a good time as always. This morning I got a significant amount of housework accomplished, and another trip to the store. I am going to three different stores per week, it’s crazy! One has wonderful, inexpensive produce and a really great seafood department - but has a tiny frozen section, mostly specialty items, etc … so I need to go to bigger chain stores for the remaining stuff. Anyway, I have a Buffalo Chicken Chili in the crockpot and though I have tasted it, so far, I am very unimpressed. In fact, I don’t think it looks like chili at all (very thin, soupy) and I don’t even think it smells that great. We will see. This is what I get for making a new recipe that has NOT been rated yet by anyone, lol!
My cookbook arrived! I did a quick browse and it looks okay, but nothing really jumped out at me. Except for a baked mac and cheese with a layer of spinach inside that looked really good! But I didn’t think it was very light: some 500+ calories per serving, 17 grams of fat, if I remember correctly. Wouldn’t be a regular in my rotation, but I will give it a try for a weekend meal. Renee - the pics are wonderful in this cookbook! LOL. I did tell DS13 to go through and see if there was anything he was interested in, and he picked a baked fish and chips. So, we are doing that tomorrow! Is it crazy to say I don’t think I have ever eaten cod? Well, I mean home-cooked meal cod. I think that’s what Gortons makes fillets out of, lol. Anyway this has a cornflake coating and potatoes sliced and baked like fries, so we shall see how it comes out!
In true Kelly fashion, the FIRST recipe I am trying though is a dessert. I promised the kids something sweet, a little special tonight, so I am making Eating Well’s One Bowl Chocolate Cake recipe. I am using baking splenda though (but even without, it is pretty low cal) and I am doing them in cupcakes rather than a one layer cake to cut. Portion control! I have some ff cool whip and strawberries to top them with, yum!
Okay, my brunch-break is over. Today is an exercise off day, must finish housework and get started on my school work!
This is the cookbook I ordered and it says it should arrive tomorrow. I was hoping for it today because I’d like to get some meals out of it and make a shopping list (planned on shopping tonight) but oh well. I love my Cooking Light cookbook (and the magazine!) but the recipes are a little more suited for adults, more gourmet-ish, so I am hoping this one has some foods my kiddos would be more willing to try. I also ordered the EW magazine last month, so I should be getting an issue soon (though I think it is every other month) … got it when it was $5 subscription on Amazon! Can’t beat that!
Food yesterday was good, ended up making breakfast dinner which the kids always love … egg sandwiches (EB for me) and homemade banana pancakes and hashbrowns. Exercise was good. Got to watch Greys, but didn’t get much school work in. I am on/ahead of schedule though, so that is okay.
Tonight is food shopping, gift shopping for upcoming birthdays, and some house cleaning. Tomorrow I have running around to do: little league registration, bringing DS13 to his friend’s house to work on a project (they are shooting a short film, lol), gymnastics birthday party to attend. Somewhere in there I’d like to get a workout in, and tomorrow I need to put a significant amount of school work in too. And, SBFF is in town to see her mom (STILL in the hospital) and will be stopping by at some point. Maybe I see if she wants to come for dinner … although when she is down, she usually likes to accompany her dad so he’s not lonely. We will see.
Sunday will be more school work. I will have more time on Sunday, but the reason for me squeezing in a workout tomorrow instead is that I workout both Monday and Tuesday, soooo it works out to be off-WO-off-WO-WO, rather than off-off-WO-WO-WO. Wow, I am crazy, lol.
The Department of Health is changing how it handles TBI patients (Traumatic Brain Injury) which would affect my father’s living situation significantly … as in, he would have to move out of the apartment/neighborhood he has lived in for 10 years and be institutionalized because DOH would no longer fund the assisted living program he is in. This is terrible because he is really not in bad enough shape to live in an institution, but would not be able to function on his own. So, I am off to work on the affidavit to fight this, sigh. Wish me luck.
Okay ladies, have a wonderful healthy Friday! I am looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow … but I promised DD a sleepover in her bedroom, so not sure how that is going to go, lol!
And not the good kind, lol.
Work is busy, lots of things going on. Not determined if they are good or bad at this time, sigh.
GS party/ceremony was cute. I had half a rice krispy treat (everyone loved the pink ones we made for the girls) and a bite of DS’s cookie.
Today, BAU. Breakfast was oatmeal, lunch LC, dinner will be a frozen stir-fry thingy I have in the freezer due to lack of planning, lol. Exercise is a Firm DVD.
Hoping to get my new cookbook today … it is an Eating Well cookbook, making over all comfort foods. Yum!
Today is work, dinner, workout, school work, Greys, more school work.
Okay, back in the office today for the first time this week and it is WEDNESDAY so I need to make this quick!!!
Exercise was great again yesterday, and food was in plan. I only had maybe 4 glasses of water, a little light. Schoolwork coming along, too.
WI today - twice, lol - once the exact same as last week, once .4 lb down. Well, I shouldn’t be shocked I weigh the same after a restaurant meal Saturday and dinner at MBFF’s Sunday (although I ate well at both!!) so it is what it is. BUT, this is a good example of how well I have to eat just NOT to gain. I really really need to stay on top of things.
Tonight is DD’s badge ceremony and the boys are coming with me to watch. Or, maybe they are coming for the junk food at the party. Probably a little of both. ;-) I will will WILL stay away from the food! If I do allow myself anything, it will be a small rice krispy treat that I made. I did strawberry ones with pink and lavender sprinkles … girls, lol.
Breakfast today was 2 NG lowfat waffles w/SF syrup and a touch of brummel and brown and coffee; lunch is LC tortilla fish and dinner is a pot-pie type thing I made with leftover chicken and veggies from Monday. I have a nectarine, banana and yogurt with me for snacks. Today is an exercise day off, rest day.
Tentative schedule for this week:
Okay ladies, off to work now! Hugs to you all, and have a great day!
I had 2 spam comments awaiting moderation and I think I spammed one of you ladies by accident, only I don’t know who it was! Sorry! Now is that going to bar you from ever commenting on my journal? I can’t find a ’spam history’ or anything like that to undo it! Great.
So, DD woke up at 1 am and 1:25 with a bad dream, then DS13 was in my room at 4:55 am informing me he had thrown up and his stomach hurt. I lay there for the next 20 minutes obsessing about the little ones getting sick, thinking about DD missing her badge ceremony for GS, etc. Then at exactly 5:50 am DD was back in my room, saying her belly hurt (and promptly vomitting in my bathroom). Ugh! (Thank goodness they are old enough to get to the bathroom now!).
The good news is that DD ate some dry cereal around 10 am and felt fine, then had a normal lunch and is still fine. On the other hand, poor DS13 had some cereal and that came back up, so he is just resting in his bed. Poor kid … netbook, ipod, cell phone, video games. He looks really upset.
Hopefully this passes quickly!
So, I am working at home, and I have literally been glued to my desk since 8:30 am. Even though I am home, I have gotten lots of work accomplished (but nothing around the house, lol) so it really doesn’t benefit me in any way, other than saving the gas money and the hassle of getting out of my PJs.
Breakfast today was egg beaters on an english muffin, lunch was leftover chicken tortilla soup. Dinner is light hot dogs, mac and cheese for the kids and salad for me, and baked beans. Exercise tonight is Firm Pump and Jab (or whatever it is called .. kickboxing). Last night I did Get Chisl’d and 25 brisk minutes on the treadmill.
What else … what else …
Going to take a break and look for a new workout video from Amazon, and then try to sneak a quick peek at my classes to see what is going on there.
Monday, back to normal. Sort of. Well, no dinners or get togethers to attend at least, so that is a good start.
The soup yesterday was wonderful! I will definitely be making that again. It was better than I even expected, yum! (before I brought it over to MBFF’s I skimmed a bowl for myself at home)
Yesterday, until the football game, food was good. Even did a brisk 45 minute walk on the rail trail. When I left the house, it didn’t seem SO cold (was still mid to upper 30s) but by the time I got home, my fingers were numb and I was dropping everything around the kitchen. Plus, R came on the walk with me and the dope only had dress shoes with him from work (well, casual man shoes, lol) so I couldn’t go as quickly as I liked. I really wanted to do the walk alone, with my ipod, and clear my head, but R insisted on coming with me. Sigh.
Anyway, had soup and stuffed cabbage at MBFF’s, and a small pc of veggie lasagna. We all made healthy recipes. Even dessert - angel food cake and a banana applesauce bread. Even though all the recipes were healthy, I still probably ate too much. But it was good, and fun! It was nice to show MBFF that we can still have these get togethers and still have good food that isn’t fried, laden with fat, covered in cheese, etc.
So, today …
I am roasting two chickens since I am home today … one for dinner, one for during the week, salads, another dinner, etc.
I may also have to run out to get a birthday gift for a party DD has next Saturday, just remembered. Sigh. I really wanted to stay in today and just get stuff accomplished!
Well, off to try to have a productive day. Hopefully you too ladies! ![]()
Friday night was nice … got a lot of textbook reading done on the train ride, had sushi on the way home and then met the girls and only had diet coke. Saturday - a little shopping, car crap, double date. Blew my calories on double date I’m sure, but didn’t go crazy. Crab cakes with asparagus, 3 drinks. It was the drinks that did me in. Being a non-drinker, they hit me hard. And, unnecessary calories. BUT, we had a great time. I like SBFF’s date very much. I hope this works out!
Today is back to healthy eating. Egg beaters on english muffin this morning. I am making a pot of chicken tortilla soup to bring to MBFF’s tonight. She is making healthy stuffed cabbags and a fat free pineapple angel cake, so no worries today. Only issue may be exercise. I have to run to supermarket now and get soup started, then have a lot of cleaning and schoolwork to do before we need to leave the house at 3:30 to pick up the kiddos.
Longer post tomorrow!
I am trying to cut out a little early today and have meetings so I need to make this brief, but I remembered to get here!
Food and exercise yesterday - good! And water! Got everything on my to-do list done.
Today, breakfast was thomas cranberry swirl breakfast bread toasted with a little brummel and brown, coffee, lunch is LC pizza, snacks are apple and banana. Dinner will be something on the train so I am not sure if I will grab sushi at Grand Central or if I will pack a sandwich. I need to eat something because I don’t want to be tempted at Chilis tonight with the girls and eat some horrifyingly bad-for-you food that I won’t even enjoy, lol.
Tomorrow is school work, exercise, auto mechanic. Then, R and I will be meeting SBFF and the new guy she is dating which I am really excited about! So that is another meal out, but I love the restaurant we are going to and it has a lot of fresh, different type foods. No worries there.
Okay ladies, if I don’t get back this weekend, have a wonderful healthy weekend!
