I’m hoping to turn in to something really pretty!

I don’t know if you remember last week I posted about my cat, Corbyn, getting antibiotics and everything because he had a swollen leg.  Well it got all better, but it was swollen up again this morning.  So I took him back to the vet.  He has to go for an x-ray and exploratory surgery on Thursday because they think he may have cracked one of his leg bones (can’t remember what they’re called).  It’s going to cost at the most £200, for anaesthetic, xray, antibiotics etc.  That’s $400.  That’s a lot of money.  Of course we’re going to pay it, how could we not - he’s my baby boy cat.  But still, I’ve kind of got that “woah, long slow whistle” thing going on right now.  Bad timing, that’s all.

However, we’re going to have a few disrupted nights tonight and Wednesday.  Because cats wash injured areas regularly he may burst the skin.  This would mean open wound, blood, smell etc. which we would have to bathe regularly.  But we need to keep an eye on him(hence getting up during the night) because if he bursts it and we don’t wash it as soon as possible he could get an even worse infection.  It would help if it burst because that would get rid of the pus and stuff in his leg, but obviously, it’s messy.

Isn’t it ironic though?  We couldn’t afford the monthly pet insurance fees, especialy since both of us have had cats all our lives and never any major problems, but now we have to pay a lot for this.  Which we wouldn’t have had to pay for if we’d pay for insurance.

Anyway, sorry I know it’s not a lovely subject but boyfriend is asleep after his early shift and parents are at work so I’ve not really got any one I can tell right now!  Thanks for listening.

Hi, sorry to hear about your cat and hope that he heals up real soon. I hear you about how expensive it all is. We couldn’t afford pet insurance for ours either because of their ages. I’m a cat lover too, BTW, a real kooky one, I have 6. :)

I’m sorry to hear about your cat, but am glad that it seems like the vet is pushing fwd. In all honesty, your cat is oh so lucky that he has such caring owners that has the money to invest in his health as you are going to do…

hmmm, bummer. i would look at insurace after this… we pay about £10 a month which is affordable. That’s with petplan but it one of the more expensive ones! I reckon it would be worth it.. after all you never know what might happen! (like this!) When harold knocked his teeth out i thought that it was gonna cost a fortune but luckily he did all the hard work knocking ‘em out and he didn’t need any medication or anything. Stuoid cat! lol Hope Corbyn will be better soon. Couldn’t the vet have given him a collar so you guys could get some shut eye?!
