I’m hoping to turn in to something really pretty!

Well hi there!

My name is Katy, and I’m a 19-nearly-20-year-old who lives in Scotland. I’m a Psychology Masters student who is about to enter the third year of her degree. I live with my boyfriend of two and a half years, and over that time a combination of eyes bigger than my belly syndrome and boredom have resulted in me putting on 25 pounds in a year and a half. I used to weigh 8st 10lbs, and looking back at pictures I looked fantastic. However, at that time I was only eating half a meal a day - a diet which just wasn’t sustainable for my physical or mental health (and is probably another reason I put on weight when i started eating properly).

I just got a new job - today actually - and while it’s only a part-time thing it’s something that will give me a small income throughout term-time and it’s a job I really, really wanted. So that coupled with starting my third year in September is providing my incentive to try and lose weight. I don’t have a weight goal. I found most of my problems before stemmed from too much number watching. In saying that though, I would like to go down to somewhere in the region of 9st 7lbs (from my current 10st 7lbs).

The picture is a (bad picture) photo of me in France in 2006. I was 17 then, and around 8st 10lbs/9st. I’m using this as one of my motivational pictures, because while my hair and skin look awful and I had braces, I also have one very important feature - a waist! My arms are pretty slim and my legs are free of stretch marks and don’t touch when I’m standing with my feet shoulder-width apart. None of these things are applicable now, but I’m hoping that with work and effort, they may become a reality once again!

    Hi, nice to find some one else in the uk! I’m in quite a similar situation to yourself (except i’m not a student anymore, pity). I currently weigh 10st9 (which is a whole 3 pounds lighter than last week! :) )and I am aiming for a target of around 9st (ideal world). I weighed 8.5st (and I thought I was fat then!) when I met my boyf 8 years ago and a combination of cosy nights in with pizza and eating man-sized portions with him has lead to this steady increase of weight.
