Just another 3fatchicks.com weblog

I am a month into the South Beach diet and its going strong. I woke up one morning to see the scale at 245 lbs. At 5′8 and 19 years old, this is nowhere near where I want to be. I knew it was time. Thankfully when I went to the library I saw the South Beach Diet book for 50 cents at the library. What would be the harm in picking that up? So I did and read it from cover to cover. It was not far from the core program on Weight Watchers.

I did Weight Watchers since I was 15 years old. I had some success and lost 30 pounds throughout the years but I would always fall off the track and gain the weight back. I realize now that I’m doing the South Beach diet that there are so many ways to manipulate Weight Watchers so I could still eat all the junkfood I wanted. I still love Weight Watchers and I might end up going back to the meetings for the support. But for now, I am learning how to love veggies and fruits, and I’m even learning how to cook.

I got a gym membership and I am proud to say I am going as many days as I can. Sometimes it feels like I have no life outside of college, the gym, and work.  But I am happy this way. I feel good after an hour on the elliptical machine. I’m learning different techniques to make time pass by quicker like reading really fast paced books. Going to the gym isn’t a horrible chore.

I am in a $250 bet with five of my relatives. It started on the 21st of August and ends October 21st. I’ve lost 18 pounds so far. I am really pushing to win. That will get me 6 m,onths longer at the gym and help keep my motivation up!

After I spiraled into a bad depression I gained so much weight. In a year I gained 50 pounds. Now I am happy to say that I’m well on my way to my goal of 150 pounds. It really doesn’t seem that far away anymore.
