Wedding approaching…

17… well, since it’s after midnight here on the east coast, I guess it’s technically 16… days until I get married. I don’t think I’m gonna make it to 269 like I’d been hoping for 🙁 but I’m still gonna push like it’s possible. I’ve started using “myfitnesspal” to keep track of my calories, and “hydrate” to keep track of my water (both free apps on the android market).

I like to keep my calories between 1600-1800, higher on the days when I exercise, lower on the days I don’t. Myfitnesspal says I should consume 1770 calories per day (with 3 times weekly 30-minute workouts) in order to lose 2lbs per week. According to my apps (cause lord knows I couldn’t survive without them) I had 1551 calories today, and 81.8oz of water. My water goal is 80oz or more every day. I’m also trying to keep my sodium down, because the doctor said I’ve got blood pressure issues. Though according to my own personal tracking, my blood pressure is rarely over 110/75 (with some spikes of course, as I stress about the approaching wedding).

The next few days of work are gonna be kinda wonky. My shifts until the wedding are as follows: 11a-8p, 10a-7p, 6a-3p, 8a-5p, OFF, OFF, 2p-11p, 2p-11p, 10a-7p, 2p-11p, OFF, 7a-4p, 7a-4p, 7a-3p, 7a-4p, OFF, WEDDING! It’s hard to get into a routine when I don’t have a regular schedule! ugh! At least when it’s 2-11 all the time, I can plan everything out around times all week and things are easy. But this is ridiculous! I hope I can keep on plan… *sigh*

A New Low!

Well, here it is. Friday again. And that means “weigh in day”…*shudder*… Every Friday I’m afraid that I’ll step on my scale and it will tell me “you’re not losing anything, give it up”… but so far, it hasn’t, and progress is happening! 3.1lbs this week, and just 4.8lbs until i have to take another one of those awful pictures. BUT I’ve promised myself that i can get a charm bracelet when i hit 280, and then every 10lbs after that I can get a new charm for it. so hopefully i can have 10 charms on my pretty bracelet (or more!) by the time i’m done. Not my idea, I admit, I borrowed it from someone else, and thanked them for the idea when i decided to use it as a reward system. It’s a whole lot better than celebrating weight loss by eating out.

My fiance has agreed and said we could spare the 10-15 dollars every month or so. He’s so wonderful!!

Now, other gizmos I’ve purchased and decided to track.

Item #1 – A pedometer.

I purchased a pedometer in order to keep track of my walking for the day, my goal is 10,000 steps per day, eventually. I’m starting out slightly below that and hoping for 8000. I’ll add steps in eventually as my body gets used to moving more.

Item #2 – A blood pressure cuff.

I will be checking and recording my blood pressure daily, as well as my resting pulse rate, to get an idea of how they improve with my lifestyle changes. Apparently better food, and more exercise means weight loss and better blood pressure.

I have spreadsheets where i keep track of all this info. My weight daily, weekly and monthly, difference from previous and total lost. i’ve also got my goal ranges for each day/week/month listed, as well as columns on the daily chart for my steps per day, my blood pressure (at time of weigh in), and my resting heart rate (also at time of weigh in). It’s important to me to keep track of this every step of the way, and numbers can tell the story much better than my words.

As of today,  I’ve lost 15.2 lbs, and I can’t wait to see the “lost” number go up, and the weight on the scale go down. It’s the most encouraging thing!
