Investing in Myself!

Tis the season for tax refund checks! At least here in the U.S.

This year, instead of spending my money on the latest gadget or new clothes or something frivilous, I’ve decided to invest in myself! Hubby and I decided that we were each going to get  $100 or so of ‘fun money’ to spend on whatever we want, and $100 or so to spend together. so $300 for us, the rest goes in the bank and stays there. We’ll need it later when we move.

So, what did I decide to spend my $100 on? I ordered a Polar FT4 heart rate monitor and some electrode gel so it reads more accurately for about $64. I measure the calories that go in, so I decided it was time to measure the calories that go out. I also ordered the latest Leslie Sansone DVD for $9, it is divided into a 5-day work out with a cardio walk, and then floor exercises for toning, each day has a different target area. I usually do a casual hour walk and then hit the gym in the evening. The walk hasn’t been doing much for my heart rate anymore, plus the pollen is starting to get to me, so I’ll use the video inside instead. With the last of my money (I went over a dollar!) I ordered a Pandora style bracelet, with 3 beads (total of $28)… one bead for every 10 pounds lost. I will order more as I continue to lose weight. I should have a pretty  nice bracelet at the end!

Part of our “shared” $100 was spent on a pair of weight lifting gloves for both of us, and an ab roller. we still have about $50 left with that, and we’ll probably save that for dinner out on our anniversary.

I’m excited about this! Investing the money in my health and fitness seemed like the best way to spend the money, especially since I just had my 1 year anniversary with this new lifestyle. I’m very excited to see what the next year has in store for me… hopefully more than 30 pounds lost! 🙂
