…a weight-loss journey

losing weight one pound at a time!

I am Jenn, as the username suggests.  31.  Lesbian.  Married.  3 furbabies.  And I am fat.  I can’t remember not being fat but in 2002 I quit smoking and in 2003 I started my weight loss journey.  At my all time high, I was 251+ — I suspect more like 260 but the scale didn’t read that high.

I lost 60 pounds with diet and exercise.  Then, I gained 40 of it back.  Then I lost 20, then gained 30.  It’s been a vicious cycle.  My mother passed away, I got sick, I got laid off (and still am in fact) — always an obstacle.  Always bad food to make me feel “better.”

In 2004 I hit a plateu with my loss and tried the South Beach Diet.  I used 3FC a lot and lost 12 pounds in a month.  Then I hit Phase 2 and crumbled.  I tried going back on the Beach 2 years ago, but I wound up having some serious GI issues and was ONLY allowed to eat processed food for MONTHS.  And it stuck with me.

In December I decided that I was going to try again, after clearing it with my doctor.  From December 15, 2008 through March 8, 2009, I followed the South Beach way of living — I successfully made it into Phase 2 and stuck with it.  I started to exercise with Wii Fit.  And it worked!  I lost 25 pounds in that time. I was fitting into jeans I had not fit into since 2004.   Just in time, in fact, for my sister’s wedding.

And I was in a rut from March 8th-April 30th.  I gained back 10 of the 15 but enough is enough!

I am back on Phase 1 for one week, then onto phase 2.  I last weighed in at 230 pounds (with clothing on in the afternoon which is not my usual weigh in mind you).

I seem to do well when I have a target goal in mind.  So, I would like to get back to my wedding weight of 208 by our vacation to Orlando the day before my 32nd birthday on October 16th.  I have set a mini-goal of 6 pounds for the month of May.

I will post my recipes and pictures (so as not to flood the forums on 3FC) and general nonsense here.  I hope it helps someone else out there.
