Nutrition Tracking

In the past I have counted carbs but that’s it. This time I started out calorie counting. I don’t know what made me do it. I’d always resisted it before. But this time I started out with cals and carbs. That was quite an eye opener. Then I started noticing the high fat content I was consuming when I ate low carb. Hmmm. That wasn’t going to help me any. Then I clued in to sodium. Eeek! Now I track everything and seek a balance. Lower cals/net carbs/fat/sodium is my goal as well as increasing fiber/potassium/protein.

So far it’s working for me. I do admit to feeling a bit obsessed at times. but if that’s what it takes, so be it. I track my daily good intake on a google docs spreadsheet: http://tinyurl.com/3lsrukg

and I have another spreadsheet on my computer with the nutritional value for every food item in my house from what’s in the fridge to the pantry to the freezer to the chest freezer.

Reinventing my 3fc blog

I archived my old posts so as not to lose those snapshots of where I was at that time in this journey. It was time to revamp the blog. I want it be meaningful for myself and perhaps for others. I’ve decided to use it as a place to document what is working for me and sometimes what it not.

The intent is to keep myself accountable and to remind myself of what is working. I know that at some point in the future I am going to need reminding. I also hope that sharing things that I have discovered in my journey may be of help to others.

I plan for my focus to be on recipes as well as coping techniques and methods of motivation and accountability. We’ll see how it all shapes up.

Just this intro for tonight, but keep an eye out for posts to come.
