News!

Posted by: jazzang In: Random Rambles

Scale’s down to 173.0 this morning!! That was a bit of a shock.. but i’m totally excited!!! Only 4 pounds untili i reach the 160’s. Definitely the result of no junk food the past couple days and a nice little whoosh.

:D

In other news… I officially got my engineering job!! I am soo excited. I start either monday or next monday!

I’ve also started house hunting… stressful but also exciting. Looking for the perfect location, cool roommates, and a sizable closet =D Hopefully I’ll find something soon.

So yesterday I was out and about pretty much all day, even though the weather was absolutely horrid. There was even a tornado warning at one point!!! Anyways, I didnt eat enough calories… oh well. I also didnt make it to the gym! The goal for today is to eat enough food, lol, and go burn it off at the gym too =)

Scale going down, down, down!

Posted by: jazzang In: Random Rambles| Weighing In

I’m sticking to my eating plan better than I ever have, and the scale is rewarding me! My weigh in this past sunday was 177.5, which was the lowest number I’d seen. Yesterday it went down to 176.5, and today I saw 175.5!!! I’m so excited :) Seeing the numbers move is so motivating to keep up the good work. I’m well on the way to reaching my Valentines Day goal of 169!!! That number also says (according to bmi charts) that I am no longer obese :D

Title inspired by this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BkUKpA5RN0&feature=related <3

I have been doing really well food-wise, and decent exercise-wise. I’m somewhat nervous/excited for tomorrow morning’s weigh-in. I am definitely expecting a loss… I’m nervous for it being smaller than I expect, and I’m excited because it could possibly be my lowest number yet! We shall see tomorrow!

I’m “officially” starting my 5K training on monday. I did go for a short run today, and then tomorrow is a rest day. I have the different speed workouts and long runs all planned, so I’m excited. I made a workout schedule for the next 6 weeks until race day and put it here. I’m anxious to see how hard it will be right off the bat. I’ve been back into the workout swing of things for quite awhile now, so I feel like I’m in pretty good shape, but you never really know til you try it!!

I feel like I am taking my next step towards getting my health back. When I was in my best shape, it was largely because I was on a competitive cross-country team. I think re-introducing running into my plan and adding the motivation of a real race will be great for me.

Another part of it is the strength training, which I never took too seriously before. I would do some weights every now and then, but I never stuck with a plan to build my strength. I intend to incorporate strength training into all of my easier run days, so mon, wed, and fri. And I want to keep track of how much weight and how many reps I can do comfortably. I got a tiny little notebook to take to the gym with me… it’s Monsters Inc and has a great picture of Sully on the front :D.

Tonight I am going to the BL Last Chance Workout (oh baby!) I’d like to get in the habit of doing it every Saturday…  because weigh in day is tomorrow!!

Shopping trip!

Posted by: jazzang In: Fitness| Random Rambles

Today I went shopping at Target with a visa gift card! I got a bunch of awesome stuff. Since it’s New Year’s week, there was a lot of fitness and resolution oriented sales going on. I bought a hand weight set, which has 3’s, 5’s, and 8’s. I can’t wait to give em a try =) I also got 2 dvd’s: Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred and the Biggest Loser Last Chance Workout. I think they’ll probably kick my butt!!! Oooh also got 2 new pairs of workout pants ($15 dollars and very very comfy) and new exercise arch-support socks!! I’m excited to keep this party goin.

I’ll report back on how those DVD’s treat me… could be interesting! I bet I’ll be sore afterwards =)

Tonight is the start of the new Biggest Loser season 9! I’m excited. That show is very motivating. If they can do it, anyone can do it!

I’m ready to ring in 2010! Adios 2009…

Posted by: jazzang In: Random Rambles

It’s new years eve! I dont know what I’m doing yet… lol. I’ll figure something out.  This is the time of year that everyone vows to change for the better and lose weight. Well good luck to everyone, but the chances of success are not great. Most people give up their new years resolution after a week or less. Its a nice idea, but its a proven failure. The problem is that with the resolution, you feel this need to act perfectly, and then if you slip up, you have “ruined” it and the party is over.

This year is the first year that i am not making a weight loss resolution, and it feels so good! I have made a change in my life, and it didn’t start on january first of a new year or anything. No, it started back in November-ish. And yes I’ve “slipped-up” on my “plan” of eating “right”, but does that matter? Not at all. The point is that I want to be healthier, I want to get my weight down to a healthy level, and I know that will take time. And for the first time, this idea of getting HEALTHY is on my mind all the time. I think about it with every decision I make, whether its food related or fitness related.

Happy New Year!

I can’t believe it, but i did it! I started this journey during what most people would say is a HORRIBLE time to try to lose weight. But I beat the odds and went from my high point of 189 to my lowest yet of 179.0!! I lost ten pounds during the time of year that most people gain 5-10! yay!!

About me and goals

Posted by: jazzang In: Goals

I am 22 years old and 5′3″, recently graduated from college. At the moment I’m in search of a job (economy is not too great for the class of 2009), but the silver lining of that is I have lots of time to focus on improving my habits and health. I can work out whenever I want, and cook as often as I want. And I can’t afford to eat out, which is definitely helpful too!

“Nothing can taste as good as being thin feels.”

I have tried to lose weight before, but I didn’t ever plan out HOW I would do it. I have made the decision that I WANT to, but I never followed through to actually make it happen. This time is different. I am laying out a map for myself to follow. And the most important part is that if I stray away from the weight-loss path, I can return to it easily, instead of feeling lost and hopeless.

“Aim for consistency, not perfection.”

When I started this journey, I was at my highest recorded weight, 189 pounds. So far I am down 7.5 pounds to 181.5… so far… but this is only the beginning….

“It’s not about motivation, it’s about commitment.”

My overall goal is to lose 60 pounds, and weigh 129 pounds. Now, that seems like a LOT of pounds to shed! So I’m breaking it down into mini-goals. As I reach each one, I’ll add the date I achieved it. I have no idea if the clothing sizes and scale will match up in the order listed. That’ll be interesting to find out.

Mini-goal 1: 179 pounds - first 10 pounds gone

Mini-goal 2: size 14 jeans (american eagle brand)

Mini-goal 3: 169 pounds - 20 pounds gone, no longer “obese”

mini-goal 4: size 12 jeans

Mini-goal 5: 159 pounds - 30 pounds gone

Mini-goal 6: size 10 jeans

Mini-goal 7: 149 pounds - 40 pounds gone

Mini-goal 8: size 8 jeans

Mini-goal 9: 139 pounds - 50 pounds gone, no longer “overweight”

Mini-goal 10: size 6 jeans???? (wide hips and a bubbly booty might only allow for looser 8’s!)

Ultimate Goal: 129 pounds - 60 pounds gone

I CAN do this. And I WILL do this.

Get your head in the game

Posted by: jazzang In: Random Rambles

Yesterday I got back from an awesome trip to Big Bear! It was very fun, and i am VERY sore. But that was to be expected, right?? I’m not pro at snowboarding, so I fell… a lot. hahaha. I didn’t eat great…. there was a lot of junkfood around, and I didnt have control over the meal planning because I went with my boyfriend’s family. But overall I’d say I did ok… it could have been a lot worse. I didn’t drink too much, just had a beer. Had a couple donuts, and my share and a half of hot cocoa. But I tried to get protein and veggies in there too!!

There were two whole days of snowboarding, and and day of playing in the snow and sliding down the hill on innertubes!! so much fun! in short…. i burned a ton of calories!!

SO I was a little scared of the scale, cuz i knew i ate some junk…. but i had to do it… had to see where i stand and start the recovery if necessary. I decided last night before going to sleep that i would do an unofficial weigh in this morning to see where the trip took me.

And i was exactly where i was before leaving!!! I did not gain anything woohooo!!! I saw 181.5 this morning! That’s the same as i was at on sunday, and after the whole tripm junkfood and all, i’m still there. my lowest so far!

That means I’m still on track to meet my goal of 179 by Christmas, and maybe even 177 by Jan 5th for the start of the biggest loser.

I’ve never stayed accountable through the holidays before, but this year is my year. No giving up for me! my head is IN THE GAME man!!

  • Lauretta Theodoropoulo: Woah! I'm really digging the template/theme of this website. It's simple, yet effective. A lot of times it's tough to get that "perfect balance" betwe
