Feb 25th - Is Spring around the corner?

$$ Still finding it more challenging to shop on a limited cash budget; can’t stock up the way I used to on fruits and vegetables, have to settle for just a few. I buy them at the Asian market where there’s a reasonable markup, rather than at a supermarket (where there is not).

The benefit is less stress, far less stress, when bills arrive. Paying everything on time, restructuring debt to reduce debt service overall… I don’t have a large amount of debt, but these days any debt is worth whittling down, and that’s what I’m doing.

Planning is a good exercise, a pretty novel activity in fact, given that I’m a day-to-day type. No long range planning for me!  I’ve always been more comfortable buying food daily, planning dinner on my way home. Ditto social events. I prefer it. I like to be creative, prefer ‘real” non-processed foods, like most all ethnic foods.

I should live in the city. Walking by stores each day, buying roll here, some fruit and cheese there, vegetables there… would be truly lovely! Something to think about… as I’ve gotten older cities have become more and more attractive (also more and more out of reach–the $$ factor again!).

Jackson and I had a terrific walk by the half-frozen rushing river this AM very early as the sun was coming up,  imagining the icy banks all green with new grass. Soon. Now all is icebound and it’s cold enough to walk on the snowcrust. No, not on the river! I so want Spring to come!
