Dogs and Fresh Air

Saturday and beautiful sunny Valentines day, albeit chilly - in the 20s with gusty winds. Southern Maine and New Hampshire can be soooo nice when it’s like this…

The love of my life is my 2+ yr old Bassett - Shepherd dog, Jackson.  I’ve always walked, but believe me, for consistency, get a dog!

Walking Jackson has been such good exercise for me - except for the iciest, sleetiest days, I walk with him on the beach for 45 minute to an hour every morning and in the village streets and playing fields every evening.

Jackson loves to be with me outside, and I with him, so it’s a win-win thing that makes us both feel good. I get joy from his joy, sometimes wonderfully so!

As the pounds have come off, I can jog again, and play some chase games with Jackson. Dashing about, watching the bounce in his step puts one in mine.

  1. Hearing about walking on the beach and through the village streets makes me want to walk, too! ;-)

My dog’s an ultra-senior citizen now, so we don’t get to do much walking of that sort together. Your time with Jackson is a gift, and it’s good to hear how much you’re enjoying that!

  2. Power8 Thanks! That’s just what it is, a gift! All my visualizations of the perfect things to be doing involve Jackson and sunshine!
