Struggling
March 12th, 2009
I am severly struggling with this weight thing. This morning my weight is again up. There are many factors:
Sodium
Increased carb intake
My period is late most likely due to Metformin since when I was on it previously my cycles went from 31-33 days to 44-48 days. I don’t understand this and no one has been able to explain it to me either.
But right now, my weight is up 8lbs from the weekend. 8lbs… it is within 4lbs of my highest weight ever. That is a whole nother story but this “weight” that I can feel in my face, hands, and ankles is going to drive me over the edge.
I think I might go buy some asparagus to go with dinner tonight. I planned on pork chops, mashed potatoes, and dill green beans but the aspargus might just cut a bit of the bloat.
I only drank tea and water yesterday so I will continue that today. I don’t have breakfast and lunch planned yet but I need to get a move on.
this totally bites. I have been at this way too long to come this close back to the top number. Seriously. I should have had surgery years ago when I looked into it. I might be thin and a mom by now.
Lentil Sausage Soup
February 16th, 2009
I found this recipe in a file on my computer. I have no clue where it came from but it was pretty yummy. I did make some modifications when I made it… I noted them in the recipe.
1 c. dry lentils, rinsed and drained
1/2 lb. bulk sausage, browned (I used 3 italian sausage links opened up.)
1 c. sliced carrots
2 stalks celery, sliced
1/2 bell pepper, diced (
1 med. onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
6 c. chicken stock (or 1 qt. plus 2 c. water) ( I used a quart of veggie stock and then 2 cups of water)
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. rosemary
1/2 tps. dried sage ( I omitted because I didn’t have any)
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. pepper (I used lemon pepper mrs dash)
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
Combine all ingredients in slow cooker. Cook on low for 6-8 hours until tender.
This came out very good. I will be making it again. Turkey sausage or chicken sausage would work just as well. I also added some cauliflower because I had it in the house and it needed to get used up. I doubt it changed the flavor any.
It is about time…

That I get back to business. The craziness that was my life since Thanksgiving seems to have calmed down and I am going to refocus again. I have decided to count carbs again. I have made a goal to log into fitday or journal on paper… I haven’t decided which. I hate how obsessed I can get with Fitday so I am not sure I want to go down that road again. Plus if I journal on paper, or even here come to think of it, I can focus only on the carbs which is what I would like to do for right now. Maybe that will be a good idea… journal here and just note the carbs for each item.
I have a goal to try 12 new recipes for the quarter and will most likely exceed that. I need to post some of my favorites so far.
I got a Wii Fit for my birthday so I have decided that I will do at least 3 training sessions this week on it.
So… off I go, I need to do some work on the Wii Fit and then prep for our dinner today.
I will post my food journal tomorrow complete with carb counts.
Back on the planning wagon
January 11th, 2009
So I took a bit of a break, maintained, and then found out that I am dealing with a thyroid issue. I won’t know what is completely going on until Feb since I have to have a biopsy but have decided that I don’t want to backslide and allow myself to binge just because things are going a bit nuts. So…
I have planned out dinners through Thursday. I have lunches planned as leftovers and soup. Breakfasts will be egg beater omlettes and oatmeal/nuts. We have a bunch of food to use up so the goal is to put a dent in that during this week. I already cooked the egg beater omelettes so we had some for breakfast today and I have 3 to eat during the week so that is a good start.
I am planning on 3 sessions of arm exercises, 3 sessions of stretching, legs, and crunches, and then 2 sessions of tai chi exercises this week. Now to figure out when will be the best times to fit them in.
So back on the plan. I will post my food at least 3 times this week.
Happy Sunday!
Welp,
December 17th, 2008
I have been silent because I haven’t had much time to focus on doing things the right way. However, I did make good choices when out for lunch today for a work luncheon. Here is to keeping on during the holidays.
Ugh
December 7th, 2008
I didn’t really give up, I just haven’t been doing 100% of what I should be doing. Things got crazy and I got discouraged when my weight went back up. This morning it was a number that I haven’t seen since the beginning of the year. That was super disappointing. I know that some of it is hormonal. Heck, all of it maybe but this 11lb bounce really threw me for a loop. I can only hope that it won’t go any higher or that it will disappear with some healthy eating. I know that my calories have not been stellar but there have been several days where I haven’t eaten all that I should so I don’t know what is going on.
I skipped the Provera this month because I was worried that I would have a nasty period right when I was going to be having a family holiday fun weekend with lots of stuff going on. The last thing I need to is to have monsterous cramps when my mother comes over to bake cookies. But, it didn’t come when it normally would so now I might end up having it at that time anyhow. If that is the case then at least some of this weight will be gone in a week. It still stinks though.
I can’t really plan right now because my schedule is so hectic but what I will be focusing on is:
- Drinking noncaloric drinks
- Getting in plenty of fruits and veggies
- Spending at least 15 min reading something that is not related to work a day
