how many calories in a bee?
Yes, a bee! I’m pretty darn sure I swallowed a bee while at our picnic today at The Valley of Fire. That’s what I get for trying to swig off the end of a can of Coke. There were bees in the area and pestering us, especially the soda cans. So we moved a couple into the van, (left the windows open) they seemed to be leaving them alone there. When we were packing up, there was two cans opened, one had been sitting awhile and was fresh n cold. In a hurry I swigged down the nearly empty can and immediately thought something other than just liquid went down…That followed by throat pain, like a really bad sore throat and it seemed to be spreading or moving… From there, I tried wash it down with water, tried to force myself to puke… all the while wondering what was happening and what was going to happen. We continued to move on to the visitor’s center and then I don’t know if it was all of the water I was putting down, trying to get rid of it or if it was that strange feeling of something in my throat as if it was coming upward, but I had to hurry to a bathroom and induce a hurl. Three chucks later and I’m pretty sure if the bee was in my throat it had to be out now. The weird feelings and pains were still there. In fact, as I swallow now it still feels like a sore throat (5 hours later) but nothing like what I experienced earlier. There were times I felt like my throat was closing up. It was very hard and painful to swallow. I didn’t talk too much, sometimes it hurt and just felt weird. Sometimes the vibrations of talking made it feel like something was moving upward. As if the bee was gonna fly right out of my mouth! Well, I’m sure it was long gone dead, or passed out during the hurl, but for sure it managed to sting me when it first got swallowed down. Maybe the stinger was stuck in my throat and that’s what I was feeling. What an ordeal. It didn’t stop me, though. We continued through the visitors’ center and went on to the White Dome area and the Cabins that were built in the 1930s. It’s all really neat. I’d like to go there again, maybe in the spring and do the couple of hiking things they have there. One is half mile round trip and the other is 1.25 miles. The weather was fantastic.
So how many calories in a bee? 360. Why? Because we stopped at the Moapa Tribal Smoke shop and Fireworks store. Hubby went in to get some fireworks to bring home and asked if I wanted anything. I really wanted something frozen for my throat, like a slurpee or an ice cream bar. Out he comes with a Haagen Daas chocolate covered in dark Chocolate ice cream bar. One bar is 360 calories! Well, it really hit the spot. It made my throat feel much better, even if temporarily. Hey atleast the hurl rejected a few hundred calories too. What a mess. Too much information?!
I had fun climbing on a few little rocks, but didn’t over do it. It was easier getting up there, than coming down! Here’s a couple pics and more have been added the photo album

You are sure lucky you’re not allergic! Wow, that must have been quite painful. It sounds like you swallowed the little bugger, that’s for sure. They sure like those pop cans, don’t they? Especially Coke…bees must have good taste. Well, on the bright side you didn’t swig the last of a beer with a cigarette butt in it :-@ (remember Nik?)I wonder what’s worse? The bee probably has more calories, though.LOL
Glad you had a great day!

Oh my goodness. I will NEVER drink from a open can like that again! That must have been so painful. I am so glad you did not go anaphalctic! Did I even spell that right??? LOL
Those are great photo’s. What a pretty place to hike and walk. I hope the rest of your trip is great!

I must admit I was confused when you said that a bee was 360 calories…then I laughed when I read it was from the ice cream bar
What an awful feeling, but what a trooper for hanging in there. Glad the weather cooperated, the pics are fantastic!
