Mindful in the Big Apple

Yesterday was a travel day and my bf dropped me off at the airport before he went to work. I was 3 hours early for my flight but I was just glad my bf did that for me (as usual). I connected in DC before getting to La Guardia airport. Both flights were seamless.
I started off my day with a thinwich egg beater hummus sandwich. I got a skinny grande caramel latte at Starbucks before my flight. Between flights, I bought a grilled chicken burrito wrap that was small and I didn’t finish the end of my wrap. I REALLY wanted to buy something to snack on but I fought the urge by buying Portia de Rossi’s new book, “Unbearable Lightness” about her fight against eating disorders, self-esteem and self-acceptance. I finished the book and I loved it.
Some part of me was envying her control of being able to survive on 300 calories a day and still work out. Shrinking down to 82 pounds when I can’t even get rid of my last 15-20 pounds. I envied her focus and determination. How sick am I? I’m envying an anorexic person who was suffering from a laundry list of health concerns. She seems to be advocating an IE approach to weight maintenance and to let your body get to a comfortable weight equilibrium. It’s similar to the approach Bethenny Frankel had in Naturally Thin.
I met up with my sister in her new office (she got a new job!) and I met a few of her co-workers. One of her co-workers is getting married in January and is currently on Jenny Craig. She was a beautiful, curvy woman. We went back to my sister’s apartment to drop my luggage off. Afterwards, we went to grab dinner at a beautiful Italian Bistro in Soho.
I ate 3 pieces of bread from the bread basket with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I ate the veal meatball appetizer followed by a strawberry tarte for dessert. It was delicious. I felt guilty eating the food. I really need to watch the free bread basket.
I woke up this morning for my morning routine of pilates and then I went to the gym for a 45 minute treadmill run. I’m currently cleaning up my sister’s apartment. I’m meeting her for lunch around 1:30 (I think a delicious salad with lean protein) then I’m going to shop in Soho. I didn’t pack any “clubbing” clothes for a possible birthday party tonight and I wanted to get new shoes.
I hope everyone has a great weekend! I’m going to start off my day with exercise while I’m in NYC because my sister eats dinner late so I should have energy in the morning to workout. I’m basically rearranging my calories so the majority is going to be for dinner.
