9/6/13 Almost Week

Its been almost a week on the Herbal Life Shakes - I am sleeping better (due to new bed and shakes), I have more energy and I am down 9 pounds.  It is a bitch to choke down all those supplements at each meal but if this continues to work I will get used to it. 

Work C25K big race is tomorrow morning - I am looking forward to getting it done and over with.  I am nervous and excited about it at the same time.  I want to finish before the parade starts but will want to help others finish on time too.  Time will tell - I might not even be able to keep up with the ones I want to help but I will try.  We can help motivate each other to finish faster.  I ran last night but barely broke a sweat and tonight is total rest day so I will be rested up for the race tomorrow. 

Its football tomorrow too - I will be rushing to get to the game on time.  Mid 80’s is the forecast with storms in the afternoon.  Good thing the race and football game are in the morning.  Might not be too warm and get it all done before the rain.

Time to put my big girl panties on and run like I mean it!  I sure hope I packed the dri-fit big girl panties!

9/5/2013 Resting and Running

Yesterday was kinda of nice - no running for me so I actually got to show up at football practice and not be in spandex and sweaty.  I don’t think some of the parents recognized me LOL.  Hair down, regular shorts on and sandals.  Big difference from the norm.  They will get the norm tonight. 

Last run before the big C25K race this Saturday with my group from work.  Should be fun and interesting.  Run the race and run to my car to make it to the boys football game. 

Stayed on plan yesterday - shake for breakfast and lunch, Atkins bar for snack in the afternoon, hummus and pita chips, venison tacos for dinner (yum)! 

My dear Momma is coming to take me to lunch today - so today is shake for breakfast and one for dinner.

7/4/13 Weight Loss Update

With less than a week to report on I can honestly say I am down 9 pounds since last Saturday and I have not once felt deprived or unable to partake in a little snack here or there.  I received my order yesterday and also a jar of PB2 - who knew that powdered peanut butter would take so good in a shake.  I have not tried adding water and putting it on toast - my son really wants to try that.  I got the one with chocolate mixed in it 45 calories for 2 tablespoons, 1.5 grams of fat, 1 gram of sugar, 5 grams of protein - how can you go wrong.  Ingredients in the plain are roasted peanuts, cocoa powder, sugar and salt AND  you can buy it at Walmart in the peanutbutter isle. 

I ran last night with my other C25K group and had to leave them - I needed to run more than 2-3 minutes at a time.  I finished 3 miles in 42 minutes.  I need it to be under 40 for Satuday.  I know race day I will push harder because of all the people.  I should be ok to finish before the Shriners find me in those little cars.  I hear they can be pretty mean :-)

Engery level for my run was great!  I had some hummus and pita chips before I left for town to run.  I just love burping hummus while running - oh I just gagged a little.  Temps were pretty good last night - I did sweat a bit but it was not overly hot.

Well that is my update - I will continue to try and post daily.  It helped me before so maybe it will help me again now!

9/3/13 Herbal Life

I appear to be going in a “whole new direction” yet again.  I gained all my weight back from what I lost with the New Direction shakes at the hospital and have been struggling to find a diet plan that will work for me.  Low carb, low fat, low calorie, shakes, points, bars etc….how do you know if it will work for you? 

A friend has been using Herbal Life shakes for two meals a day and a sensible dinner.  I know I can live on shakes/meal replacements and I know it sure makes packing my breakfast and lunch super easy when all I have to pack is shake powder so I figured why not try it again.  I did it before but did not take the supplements that went along with it.  My friend gave me enough supplements and powder to get me through the holiday weekend until my order arrives (I hope today).  I actaully lost weight over a holiday weekend.  I know its mostly if not all water but it feels good to see the scales going down again.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday on two shakes a day with a sensible dinner and a few snacks I was not suppose to have and I feel great.  I did not run at all this weekend so a good test of my engery level will be during and after my run tonight.  Pretty costly to do anything like this but it is much cheaper than the shakes from the hospital and my son can have one for breakfast every morning.  Maybe my grocery bill will go down too.

School started today - very exciting for my 12 year old son.  I am happy I won’t get the dozen phone calls during the day telling me he is bored. 

I have a race coming up on Saturday - 5K with my group from work.  Should be interesting - I am going to try and run the whole thing.  Not sure how that will work out but I have something pushing me - the start of the parade.  If I don’t finish in 40 minutes or less I will run into the parade and I don’t want to do that!  I could be struck by a Shriner in a little mini car……Somone is going to get hurt and I am guessing it will be the Shriner!

I am back - feeling good and ready to start blogging everyday again.
