6/21/13 A Week? Really?

Holy shit its been over a week since my last post.  I have been working out and doing the baseball thing so nothing really has changed.  I have done 3 training runs with my C25K group and they have gone very well.  I took a class on Good Form Running and hated to see my fatself on the video but was interested in seeing my foot placement and form….both of which was not terrible but I have somethings to work on. 

I borrowed a metronome and am curious to see if I can get 180 steps a minute to shorten my stride and keep my big ass feet under my big ass body when I run.  Mid foot running is hard when you are not used to it.  Habits are very hard to break.  Tomorrow mornings run will be with the metronome and I will see if I need to buy one.  The trainer who did the good form running class said she loves hers and still uses it.  The insane beeping might make me run faster to get it over with.  I have gotten used to running with no music during these last few training runs.

Baseball season is almost done – just a couple more weeks left and then we have a short break and football seaon starts up.  The boy is taking a class to help with speed and agility – I wanna take the class.  He said it was like a last chance workout from the Biggest Loser.  He got to play with the big heavy ropes and slippery skate thing and 1/2 balance balls – he said it was AWESOME.  Perfect for pre-conditioning for Football.  He will have football camp the middle of July too and this class – busy busy busy.

I am gaining weight taking this pill – not sure why since my work outs have increased – pisses me off.  About to say fuck it and stop taking them and just be who I am but I want it to work so bad.  I will keep going one more month. 

Hubby tore his shoulder up in a tragic wiffle ball incident during the parent vs kids game last Saturday – no work for him since but thank goodness no surgery.  He is already feeling better and has much more mobility in it.  Maybe the surgeon is right and he will only be off work for 2-3 weeks.  Thats life……He does kinda look sexy with his arm in a sling – nothing sexier then an injured man – except an injured man with a paycheck AND a tool belt.

I will start posting again – I promise.  Virus thing on 3fatchicks threw me a bit.  They seem to be having lots of probelms lately.  I missed posting and then got busy but I am back!

6/13/2013 Day 1 Training COMPLETE

Day one training of the Spartan C25K is complete and it was FUN.  I do have to admit after the first training run I kinda looked/felt like this……

The second run went a little better – I did get to go a little slower and it did rain on us a little which was nice to help cool us down.  But I imagine I still looked like the above picture after the second run.  4 miles done last night and it felt really good.  I have not run in a long time.  Tonight is spin class and I am excited about that.  I had to miss last week because of baseball.  Looking forward to getting my ass kicked!

Day two of running training is tomorrow – no baseball this weekend so I will get another day of running training in on Saturday or Sunday.

6/12/13 Day 1 of C25K Training

It’s official – today is Day 1 of the C25K training that I am responsible for providing the tools and information to 53 people to complete a 5K in September.  I would say about 5 of those 53 people are runners – one of which is a marathon runner, one is a tri-girl and one likes to run 13 miles every morning before work.  Crazy that I am the trainer/leader of this group.  The vast majority fall into the walker….wish to be a runner group which is right up my alley.  I feel comfortable with those people.  I don’t however feel comfortable with the people who run a 6 minute mile and can do a 5k in 15 minutes – again – CRAZY!

The few runners have offered to help me with the more advanced people in the group and I can hang back with the walkers who dream of one day running a 5K.  I too dream of running a whole 5K again one day.  It has been a long time since I ran 3.1 miles straight through and am looking forward to the training.  My goal for this training – finish the 5K in September in 30 minutes or less.  I want to break free of the 40+ minute time that I have always been at.  I am going to follow the C25K plan and see what that does for me.  No walking breaks during the race.  It has been years since I did that.  I know it can be done.  I did my first 10K that way. 

I am exteremly nervous/anxious to have all these people looking to me for motivation.  I think I will do a fine job but still – nervous and anxious.  Weather is not looking too good for our training runs today.  Due to work end times I am having two training runs today – I should be good and tired.  The plan calls for 60 second jog followed by 90 second walk – repeat for 20 minutes.  It has you jogging for 8 minutes total.  I can do that TWICE – thats only 16 minutes of jogging over the course of two hours.  I can do that no problem – right?  RIGHT?  ANYONE….ANYONE…..RIGHT?  OMG WTF HAVE I DONE?  I have not worked out in like two weeks……I am FREAKING OUT……..

6/6/2013 Not enough time in the day

Someone changed the time in a day – I just know it.  Someone is messin with me and it’s not funny.  Before I know it the time is after 9:00 pm and it’s time for bed and I have not worked out yet.  Last night was suppose to be my nothing planned day so I could work out.  Oh no…can’t have that.  I found out in the morning that I had to make “underwear cookies” for the boys Social Studies class for today.  WTF are underwear cookies you ask……Well they are suppose to resemble what your kids (and mine on occassion – I am adult enough to admit it) underwear look like when they roll them down and leave them on the floor all rolled up tight in a figure 8 shape…..hence the name “underwear cookie”.  I have to admit when they cook up they do kinda resemble what I have seen on my bathroom floor before.

So I worked all day got home and hubby had dinner cooking – boy’s turkey with noodles and my mom’s fresh greens for a salad – very yummy dinner.  We got the dishes done and then started in on the cookies.  After cookies were done we had to run into to the baseball field and do a money check on the concession stand so by the time I got home it was after 9:00 AGAIN!  AGAIN NO WORK OUT. 

Tonight I work all day and get home change and we have to leave by 5:00 for a baseball game that is 45 minutes away.  My only hope to get a work out in today is a rain out – don’t really want that because it’s a pain in the ass to reschedule baseball games.

I miss my spin class already……This should be the last one I have to miss.  No more Thursday games unless we have to reschedule any.

6/4/13 Follow Up – New Meds & Misc info

I have my follow up appointment for that Qysmia that I started taking full time after my race.  I started taking it again on Monday, May 13th and am down 14 pounds since then.  I have been really watching what I eat but not following any diet plan.  I still have cookies and ice cream on occassion and hot dogs at the ball games but I limit my portions and so far it seems to be working.  I did not want to start a diet and the pill at the same time and wonder if it was the pill or the diet that was working.  I think the pill is helping me with the portion size and snacking.  I don’t seem to have the same urges I used to have before – no side of beef at dinner – just front quarter.  I think I am reverting back to 20 years ago when……

It seems to be making a difference.  I only hope it continues.  I am the first patient my doctor has on it – she said she has one other male on it but as of two weeks ago she had not heard from him and did not know if he was taking it or not.  I am excited to go in and report to her.  I guess I will need to cough up the money for another months worth.

TOPIC CHANGE – Went to my son’s baseball game last night = it was a home game and the team that traveled came from about 35 minutes away.  They got there and warmed up – nothing different then normal.  When they took the field and their pitcher threw his warm up pitches I thought “wow – that looks funny……funny set and form”.  Turns out the kid only had one hand.  He would take his glove off and hook it over his forearm and get set and do his wind up and throw and put his glove on all in one motion.  It was pretty awesome to watch.  We did not mercy this team.  He pitched very well and pitched for several innings then moved to CATCHER – yes you read right – they moved him to catcher.  He is a one handed pitcher and catcher and the kid can hit the ball too.  It was inspirational to watch.  We ended up winning 7-3 but it was still a good game. 

ANOTHER TOPIC CHANGE – Missed work out last night due to baseball game, missing work out today due to doctors appointment then the boy’s last choir concert.  Tomorrow I am very excited to report I have NOTHING on the calendar and will for sure get a work out in.  Not sure what that work out will be but one will be done.  I will be missing spin class on Thursday (sad day since I love spin) due to an away game unless we get rain.  I will bring my gym clothes just in case the call it. Weather man is calling for rain on Thursday.
