2nd spin class December 1, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — hveeck @ 11:56 pm

woo hoo!!!! I made it through the whole class, and for some reason it seemed easier!  dont get me wrong, it was still very hard and my whole body felt it, but being that it was only my 2nd class I was very surprised that it felt so much easier than the 1st class. I just hope Im not so sore tomorrow.  Somehow I dont think i will be. I was so happy to finish the entire class. I know that this class is going to help me see results quicker than the other stuff. I’m just thankful that something has really clicked in my head that makes me certain that I will reach my goal of being healthy and fit :)  It’s just not an option anymore.  went shoping today and my whole cart was filled with fruits and vegies, except for some of the other random stuff for DH and the kids.  I crave my fruit smoothies. If you guys want an idea for a good breakfast try this: a third of a pineapple cut up,  a handful or two of strawberries, handful of blueberries, one cup of lite soy milk, tbsp of honey, blend in a blender and enjoy!  I try new creations with my smoothies every day. If you dont want the soy milk and honey, It’s good with just the fruit blended up too! you can use all kinds of fruit.  I’m going to try it with non fat yogurt tomorrow.  I’m halfway through my superfoods healthstyle book, and Im loving it!  Makes me want to eat blueberries, spinach, and salmon every day :)  well, hope you all had a good monday.

B- whole grain oatmeal with cinnamon and honey

L-healthy choice chicken rice thingy, and some popcorn.

D- Tuna with onion, relish, and fat free mayo on whole grain crackers

S- pineapple, orange, and yogurt smoothie

Thank you for all your kind words! Also your smootie sounds amazing, makes me want to run up to the grocery store and buy stuff for the morning!! Keep up the great work, and share more from your healthstyle book!

I’m spoiled. There’s dollar stores here that sometimes have blueberries for 99 cents. Now I never want to pay more than that for them. They’re so high right now. Especially since I can wipe out the entire piddly little carton in a few minutes. It’s like candy! I don’t understand how my teen son can’t like these things. He’ll only eat apples and bananas. How BORING! I do have a smoothie machine that’s collecting dust. I think it might be time to break it out and get some good calories in that way. I went to Smith’s today and got all happy that their fruit platters were marked down half price. I love them. yum.

Forgot to say congrats on the spin class. I saw it on biggest loser last week, it looked tough. Of course you didn’t have Jillian as your trainer but I’m sure it’s still real tough. I noticed that the bicycle was much easier this time (only my 2nd time) and I also noticed that squats and the calf machine were easier the second time too. Funny how fast our bodies can get in as well as out of shape. Good job hveeck!

Hey you! Congrats on the spin class! Cycling was my main choice of cardio in nicer weather and I credit a lot of my weight loss to it. Tough work, isn’t it?

Nice on the healthy shopping cart. I always feel pretty proud and smug when mine is filled healthily. It’s a good feeling :)

Thanks for your words of encouragement regarding my burnout.

On the advice my trainer gave me regarding cardio - because I don’t have much weight left to lose, body fat is pretty low and I want to increase my lean muscle mass - too much cardio is detrimental to my goals.

According to her. other trainers I’ve spoken with and my doctor - the cardio will break down my lean muscle mass, my body could/will (?) use the muscles as fuel.

Rather, I’d want to concentrate on building muscle through strength training. My very basic understanding is that cardio does not build muscles - only strength training will. The cardio is great for cardiovascular health however.

    HTH!

Wanted to add, just in case my reply is misinterpreted - cardio in general is a wonderful thing! My objective has switched from massive weight loss to building a trim physique, so everyone wants me to switch the focus entirely. Understand that I generally do cardio 7x per week, 45 minutes minimum in addition to strength training. You can see where they think that’s overkill and they are likely right ;)
