Thoughts for the day…

I woke up this morning at an ungodly hour of the morning (anything before ten when I don’t have to be at work is an “ungodly hour”) and went to the gym to get it out of the way. Plus I have a hair appointment at four and after I get my hair done for the day, there WILL BE NO physical exertion which can mess up said hair. (Tomorrow is a different story, though). I went to Bally’s and did 55 minutes of cardio, weights, and stability ball, then came home and did 20 minutes of Yoga. A few random thoughts for today:

  • Why, oh why, Bally’s, must you have the heat on hell in the gym? I totally understand that it’s not exactly summer, and I also understand that most people don’t share my love for polar bear temperatures when working out, but does the heat have to be at the devil’s comfort level? In case you haven’t figured out, I HATE to be hot when working out. Which is why I dread going to the gym in Georgia’s heat in July, which is similar to being in a sauna unintentionally.
  • Isn’t the purpose of going to the gym to partake in physical activity? Then why would someone drive around the parking lot for fifteen minutes to get the closest non-handicapped space next to the building?
  • Yoga mat + Gym Socks = Disaster. ‘Nuff said. (I didn’t know you are supposed to do yoga barefoot! I found that out today, though, when I attempted to do downward facing dog and almost busted my ass. That probably explains why my right side is so sore.)
  • I am really looking forward to tonight’s dinner; I am making Steak Diane with a big, authentic caesar salad, sauteed mushrooms, steamed asparagus, and I might even throw in a chocolate covered strawberry or two. I need a pedicure, too (which was discovered after I took off the gym socks during downward dog) but I don’t know if that’s gonna happen today, unless it’s a home pedicure.

I must say, that I feel really good after my workout session today. Considering I haven’t been to the gym since Sunday, I was expecting to feel more winded. Sometimes I wonder if being “tired” at the gym is more psychological than physical?

Ok, I think I’ve contributed at least ten cents worth of thoughts for the day, so I’m done now. I’m off to have a Kashi Flaxseed waffle with homemade blueberry sauce.
