where did the time go??? January 12, 2009

It’s hard to believe it’s already 12 days into the new year and I still can’t get a handle on it.

I have been sick for the past week and half and just can’t seem to shake it off.

I have been going through some things in my personal life that I think came with some stress which in turn is what brought on this cold I have been dealing with.

Can’t forget about the crazy eating habits stress and a cold bring on - sometimes I eat everything and sometimes I barely eat at all. I’ve tried working out but seems I feel worse after I do.

My goal is to get through the sickness, give my stress and personal stuff to God and when it’s all said and done I will make a full hoorah for the new year.

Drink your daily water January 9, 2009

From Morning Stretch with Denise Austin.

If you’re not a water drinker, it’s time to turn yourself into one! Drinking water every day is key to maintaining good health. Your body is made up mostly of water — doesn’t it make sense to replenish the good old H2O instead of filling up on soda pop or sugary fruit juices? Plus, did you know that the brain often mistakes thirst for hunger? Before running to the nearest snack machine, try drinking a few glasses of water first and wait about 20 minutes — your craving just may have gone away.

So how much water do you really need? Well, a general rule of thumb is about eight ounces of water eight times a day, but there’s no strong scientific evidence to support that recommendation. In fact, some experts actually recommend 13 glasses of H2O for men and nine for women! That may seem like a lot of water, but your body loses about ten glasses of water in the course of a day. And if you’re exercising, pregnant, or breastfeeding, or you live in a hot or humid climate, your water loss is increased, so your intake should be upped!

Take my advice and drink up — it’s H2Ohhhh so good for you! One tip: If you’re having a hard time getting used to the taste of water, try adding a lemon wedge for a hint of sweetness!

Visualize Your Success! January 7, 2009

From: Denise Austin’s Morning Stretch

You’ve heard it before: The mind is a powerful thing. But it’s so true — you can train your mind to visualize success, just as you can train your body to achieve it! And when you’re stuck in a rut, it helps to know you have the ability — however subconscious — to do something about it! Here are some ways to tap into your brainpower:

  • Put it on paper. Write down what you want. Is it to fit into your size 6 jeans? Reduce your cholesterol by 15 points? To complete five full push-ups or a 40-mile bike ride? Get it down on paper and then post it on your bulletin board or slip it in your wallet so you see it every day. It’ll be a constant reminder of what you want to accomplish!
  • Say it out loud. Tell your relatives, friends, coworkers, and most important, yourself about your goal. Create a mantra (I will drop 10 percent of my body weight by spring!) and recite it often. Revealing your desires will give you the confidence to believe in yourself — and others the chance to encourage you along the way.
  • Shut off negative thoughts. When doubts start creeping in, stop them dead in their tracks by repeating your mantra, turning the negative into a positive (nope, you’re not too tired to walk the final mile!), or simply finding a way to distract yourself (call a friend to chat about an unrelated topic like an upcoming vacation!). Next thing you know, you’ll be faking it ’til you make it!

11lbs

Filed under: Weighing In — gonnabe @ 9:38 am

From the last Tuesday in Novemeber til the last Tuesday in December I gained 11lbs. I know just how I did - mindless eating.

I have been goin through some things and letting my nerves get the best of me and therefore turning to food instead of giving it to the Lord. I am slowly making progress with this - as of today I have lost 2 of the 11lbs.

Count down back down begins.

11lbs gained - 2lbs lost = 9 more to go
