Day 1 of Phase I (detox)

Good morning!

I am excited about getting this detox started.  I ate breakfast later than I wanted, but I didn’t get a chance to get it sooner.  I had 1/2 cup of oatmeal made with 1 cup of skim milk.  I sliced some strawberries and bananas on top and also added blueberries.  It was tasty.  I definitely missed the butter and sugar.  Since I ate at 9am, my next meal will be at 12.  I’m sipping on a cup of mint herbal tea right now.  With NO sweetener at all.  I can’t believe it, but I’m trying.  I’ll be back with an update later.

1pm update:

At 12pm, I ate sauteed broccoli, cauliflower, sugar snap peas, carrots, red bell pepper, garlic, and pineapple over a cup of brown rice. I sauteed the veggies in olive oil, soy sauce, and fresh squeezed orange juice.  I couldn’t finish the plate.  I’m not supposed to eat again until 3pm.  I will probably have a yogurt since I need something small.

4:35pm update:

The snack bug is really hitting me right now.  I’m trying my best to fight the urge.  I just ate a small helping of sweet potato fries that I made earlier.  They helped a little, but not much.  I know I can get through it.  It’s a mental thing.  I’m not hungry, I just want to snack.  And that chocolate cake sitting on the counter is NOT helping.  But I’m not going to back down.  I’m going to fight it.  This is from the book, “Remember, cheating is a decision.  If cheating is the choice you make, you are only cheating yourself.”  I just need to keep this in mind.  I am only cheating myself if I choose to eat something that is not good for me.  Oh!  I just remembered!  I have some sugar-free gum that I bought this morning!  I’m either going to have that or some herbal tea with splenda.

7:50pm update

Well, so far, so good.  Here’s my total food schedule for the day:

9am - 1/2 cup oatmeal made with skim milk, strawberries, blueberries, few slices of banana

9:30am - 1 cup of mint herbal tea

12pm - 1 cup brown rice with sauteed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, red pepper, sugar snap peas, garlic) and pineapple. Veggies were sauteed in olive oil, soy sauce, and fresh-squeezed orange juice.  Also, ate a few homemade sweet potato fries.

1:48pm - Ate the rest of the banana from this morning.

2:20pm - 11 Almonds

4:45pm - Sweet Potato fries (2 sweet potatoes worth)

5pm - 1 cup of lemon herb tea w/ tsp. of splenda

6pm - Phase I Pizza - I only ate a 1/4 of the crust, but ate all the toppings. Toppings were: black and green olives, tomato, red pepper, mushrooms, fat-free cheese, and red onion.  The crust was 1 egg white, 1 cup of oatmeal, 1/2 can of garbanzo beans, EVOO, and seasonings.

7pm - shared banana with DD
