Fasting day #2 almost over

Yesterday afternoon I had the worst cravings ever.

I don’t know if it’s the amount of time from the start of the fast or if it’s the time of the day that is causing it.

Next fasting day I’ll start the fast at a different time to see if it makes a difference - maybe I can time it so the worst cravings come when I’m sleeping ;-)

After the workout yesterday I felt great and the cravings were completely gone, and I’ve been feeling great all morning.

The weight this morning was 97.7 - down 1.7 kilo from yesterday.

The first fasting day I dropped 1.6 kilo and gained back 1.4 kilo over the next 3 days.

If I gain back 1.4 kilo again over the next 3 days then I will end up with a 0.5 kilo weight loss in 8 days.

Not impressive, but definitely better than the plateau of 100 kilo I had reached.

And since I’m able to lift more and more weight I know that I’m also getting a better muscle/fat ratio.

Will be interesting to see if I go up 0.8 kilo again before tomorrow

Back from the gym on fasting day #2

This afternoon I was sooo close to eating something.

It was around dinner time and I was tidying up the kitchen when my eyes caught a glimpse of a piece of bread.

I generally have no problems staying away from unhealthy foods, but a healthy piece of bread with sunflower seeds is somehow more “legit” and I was sooo close to eating a slice.

But I finally managed to close the cupboard and then I headed for the gym, leaving the cravings behind.

Chest press wasn’t maxed anymore - today it was only hard (with the same weights as monday)

Upper back was the same as monday.

I added 2.5 kilo to the shoulder press monday, but had to removed the added weight on the 3rd set. Today I was able to work through all 3 sets on the high weight.

Monday I added 5 kilo to Vertical tracktion and today I added another 2.5 kilo - and I’m still not maxed there yet.

Monday I added 10 kilo to Leg press and today I added another 10 kilo - and still not maxed there either.

I added 5 kilo to Seated leg curl monday and today I added an additional 2.5 kilo

And when I left the gym I felt refreshed and not fatigued at all.

So, so far I’ve been able to work out on both my fasting days and have been able to add more weight.

The “worst” time is definitely late afternoon as we get close to our normal dinner time.

So on the 3rd fasting day I think I’ll start the fast at another time of the day to see if that makes it harder or easier.

9 hours into fasting day #2 in my 4 week experiment

I’m 9 hours into my second fasting day on my 4 week Eat Stop Eat experiment.

I haven’t felt any hunger yet, but my mouth is craving something.

The Wednesday supply of fresh fruit just arrived at the office and one of my colleagues decided to bring back a sandwich and eat it in the office. I have no problems with somebody eating a sandwich in the office, but the fruit is just sitting there and calling my name.

Will be heading for the gym in about 3 or 4 hours time.

Fasting day #2 about to start

I had my breakfast at 7 am today and the next meal will be tomorrow around 11.30 am.

I had planned to fast Monday, but changed my mind because we got invited out. Tuesday I didn’t want to fast because my wife was home for dinner that day.

So I decided on Wednesday - and is going to have my second fasting-workout in the gym tonight after 12 hours of fasting.

I had planned to fast again today but changed my mind

I had originally planned to fast again today and then hit the the gym again tonight to kinda push it to the max.

One good day in the gym might be a fluke, but if I could squeeze in fasting days on every gym day then I would have more confidence and trust in the program.

But an hour ago we got a dinner invitation for tonight, so I’m changing plans.

I’ll hit the gym now instead of tonight and I’ll do my next fasting day on Tuesday or Wednesday (which is my next gym day)

Fasting day #1 complete

This morning I weighed 98.0 - down 1.6 kilo from yesterday (and that’s including the breakfast I had yesterday after weighing myself)

After the afternoon cravings yesterday I went to the gym, then went to pick up one of the kids and then went to pick up my wife from work and then I went to bed at 23:30.

The biggest test yesterday was to see what effect fasting would have on my training.

On my 10 minute warmup on the eliptical I burned 4 calories more than last time, so I was able to keep a slightly higher tempo than last time.

On chest press I maxed out on the 9th press on the third set - last time I was able to squeeze #10 in as well, so slightly down on chest press.

But every other exercise went as good or better than last time.

Upper back still hard to do the final pull, so next time I’ll add more weight.

Shoulder press went from maxed last time to just being hard yesterday so I’ll be adding weight there as well.

Vertical traction was slightly harder than last time, but not maxed yet, so I’ll add more weight there as well.

Leg press and seated leg curl was exactly the same as last time, so I’ll be adding more weight there as well.

At the end of the last exercise - 5 minutes on the bike - I felt more tired than last time, but burned the same amount of calories.

So some of the exercises were a bit harder, some were easier than last time and the majority were just as hard as last time.

But I didn’t feel dizzy or fatigued.

So starting the workout 13 and a half hour after my last meal (breakfast) didn’t seem to have any noticeable impact.

I ended the fast at 8.30 this morning after 25 and a half hour of fasting.

I’ve just started a 4 week Eat Stop Eat experiment

I started on a 4 week experiment with Eat Stop Eat by Brad Pilon at 11 am this morning.

I had breakfast at 7 am, but think that 11 am will be a better time to officially start each fasting day because then it fits nicely with breaking the fast by going to lunch at work.

So, officially I’ve been fasting for 8 hour, but in reality it’s been 12 hours since I had anything to eat.

Around 13.00 I felt hunger/cravings but by 14:30 they had passed (and I was not near anything edible to mess up my experiment)

This afternoon I’ve had some cravings - my mouth definitely think it’s missing something.

Having a cup of decaf Rooibos/Blueberry/Vanilla tea helped a bit, but my taste buds are definitely crying out for some action.

Next thing is to hit the gym in an hour, so interesting to see what a 13 hour fast will do to my weight training.
