Day Two

Oh, I’m just so happy! The BistroMD food is just so delicious and so FILLING.

And I have no idea how much of this is psychological (nor do I care), but I feel AMAZING. I’m walking with a snap in my step, I’m drinking TONS more water than I usually do, and I’m feeling my hips swish as I enjoy the idea of having a smaller waist.

Screw it! Even if it’s *all* psychological at this point, I’ll take it. It feels great!

And I like having this much momentum to start out. Starting strong is wonderful, and I’m embracing it.

Tomorrow introduces a new challenge to me in this already new diet, and that’s dining out. I have a business meeting over breakfast and that will require that I, well, eat breakfast with the team! So, BistroMD builds in a “free night within reason” each week, and I’m just going to shift that to my morning meal tomorrow.

Luckily, I’ve already eaten at this restaurant before, so I know what I will order and how much of it I will eat. BistroMD provides a caloric window of 400 to 600 calories for that “free meal,” so I should be in good shape if I keep an eye on my portion control. I’ll do a little Googling tonight, just to be sure.

Today’s best meal so far was the Chicken Italiano. That’s grilled chicken breast (which, sorry, tasted a bit too processed for me, but luckily the Puttanesca Sauce covered that up) with tomato, kalamata olives, capers, parsley, and garlic served with Italian vegetables and Sicilian salad (and that Sicilian salad ROCKED my world! Wow!!!!!!!!). It was so much food that I decided to save about a third of it for later. And that was a great choice! It was a treat when I got a little hungry a few hours later and wasn’t due for my next meal yet.

Yay!

Oh! One note to clarify the “extra food” that was in my shipment yesterday. I thought they’d thrown in four extra plain oatmeal packs, but it turns out you’re supposed to mix one plain with one flavored instant oatmeal to make your breakfast meal the right size and not so sweet. It’s actually quite good that way! I was concerned at first that my gluten intolerance might extend to oats (it’s been so long since we really examined *exactly* what sets me off — I’ve just been avoiding all potential culprits), but so far so good with that. I’ll keep an eye on my “quick symptom” items (like swollen lips, puffy earlobes, itching around the scalp, joint pain, and of course migraines) and pull the oat foods if it looks like they’re going to be problematic.

Okay, that’s it for tonight! Got a great walk in last night and will do another good one here in the neighborhood in a few hours. In a week or two, I hope to have enough confidence to get back to the gym and sweat in public!

Wish me luck!
