Cruise Control
128. Shoes on.
Here’s one thing I know: we are responsible for taking care of ourselves. When pandemics break out and family members are struggling with serious illness, the best thing we can do is make sure that we are taking care of ourselves. Wash your hands. Drink plenty of fluids. Move (stretch, sweat).
Not that that’s [...]
It’s A New Day
128, with shoes.
Whew.
This is a gift. I ate a lot this weekend and moved rather little, unless you count the car moving across the landscape. I felt gross and disgusting and was prepared (not really, but told myself to be) for something in the 130s again today.
But instead, it was 129 initially, without shoes, and [...]
Carbs
128.
So here’s the thing: when I wanted to remove pounds, I focused on increasing protein and fiber and on reducing ‘carbs’ (by which I meant breads, rice, pasta — with a flag on potatoes, and a bye on fiber-rich cereal for breakfast).
The race is over, and I am back in the carbs parade. Gingersnaps last [...]
Acclimating
Moving:
25 crunches, some time in plank pose (the on-the-forearms type)
3×20 bicep curls (5′); some random tricep rows
——
B (7 AM): coffee w/1%; kashi go lean with half a banana and 1%
Sn plan: apricots and almonds
L plan: out with work team for a buffet, so Lord only knows [Later: lots of 'little bit of this': fish, chicken, [...]
Ack: 129
Crap. 129 on the scale here this morning. I’ve worked hard to get into the 120s and I do *not* want to see a 13X on that scale again. I know it bounces around some, and I know panicking isn’t going to help. But still.
OK. Deep breaths. Focus on *healthy.*
Moving: Walked in to work today, [...]
Maintenance Journey
128 (shoes on) on the scale here.
So now the maintenance journey begins. Maintenance is not as difficult as removing the pounds in the first place, but it’s a challenge. The ‘desperation’ feeling is gone. But I need to stay attentive and intentional, even absent that push from the ‘desperation’ impulse.
I did okay this weekend, I [...]
LOL: Post-Race Pudge
Hopped on Fitty this morning, learned I’d gained 2 pounds since my last weigh-in (i.e. since yesterday!), was tickled to get the cheerful message that I am “still on track for your goal!”! LOL. OK, well, not really — gaining two pounds is not a goal. But I appreciate the reminder that a blip is [...]

126 on the scale here, so I should be okay for the official weigh-in today. Fitty was happy this morning about my BMI (21.08? something like that). Fingers crossed. Will check back in after the weigh-in.
WOOOT! Officially 126, so the race is done, and I hit my goal, and now it’s time for the next [...]
Thursday
127. Still. Whew. (And yet, worrywart that I am, I would feel so much more comfortable if I was 125 or 126, just in case tomorrow morning is a ‘heavy’ day and I miss my weigh-in goal. I know this is stupid thinking. But there it is.)
Moving:
15 Wii Fitty minutes (hula hoops, step, ‘advanced’ rhythm [...]
Wednesday
127 this morning.

Weights: 3×12 bicep curls (8′)
Walk home: the 35-minute ”shortcut” that includes major hill/step climbing.
