Yesterday’s weight: 154.6

Today’s weight: uhm… not going to weigh in since I ate my body weight in kettle corn yesterday!!

The B52s concert was AWESOME!!! I posted a bunch of pictures with captions on my Facebook account. Y’all are more than welcome to head on over there and check ‘em out. My account is open to everyone. Just look for Tiffany Call Tweedie (wow, I have nothing to hide ever, do I!)

I’m still waiting to get the meet ‘n greet picture with the B52s from the photographer. Due to their contract, we could not use our own camera. Their photographer took the picture and will email us our pic. So, I’ve been OCD checking my email (yes, I actually woke up several times during the night and checked it. Like I said: OCD!!) I was able to have Sean, my 8 year old with me (without having to pay an extra $200!!) and that was pretty cool. They got a kick out of him, since he’s such a polite little sweetie! I made them all laugh by complimenting their tshirt signing skills and Cindy (the blonde one) said that was the funniest thing anyone has ever said to her! Since I imagine the photo-op/autograph signing sessions are probably one of the least favorite aspects of their job, I take it as a huge compliment that I was able to make them laugh.

Yesterday, I had a couple of soy protein burger patties on flat buns with spicy brown mustard, pickles & red onion (yeah, they… uh… repeated on me a bit later. Not really a great idea! Though, they were tasty.) At the festival I shared a sno-cone with Sean (that’s shaved ice with some flavored sugar syrup on it, since it was 1000 degrees outside, this was NECESSARY. I did ask them to go light on the syrup. And the aforementioned kettle corn. Which I love, is addictive, and is also gluten and casein free, which made it one of the only “foods” served there that Sean could eat. That’s all I ate yesterday, so my calories were probably actually still low. However, between the excessive heat, the tons of water I was drinking and the ton of salt, I feel SO BLOATED this morning, I’m sure I’m retaining all the water I drank!

Today I’ll go back to my usual diet of tons of fruit (clementines & apples) and have some wraps made with lettuce, red onion, salsa, fat free sour cream, ground beef soy substitute and La Tortilla whole wheat tortillas (50 calories each).

No exercise today. I walked basically all day yesterday (my knee is letting me know this!) I’ll be up and down stairs all day today at work, and that’s going to wreck havoc on my knee too. I still have that 10K next Saturday - that grueling 6.5 miles of trail run that may kill me. But I am damned determined to do it, and finish it.

Time to get moving. The paycheck calls. Have a great Sunday, y’all!!

Birthday Bonanza

Today is Sean’s 8th birthday. So I planned a day chock full of 8 year old fun. Well, as much 8 year old fun as I could handle (and afford!) We started with a matinee showing of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (in 3D!!!) This was possibly the most fun movie I have ever seen! We all loved it, it was hilarious. Even the credits are entertaining. They practically had to drag us out of the theater (we were the last ones to leave!) Go see it if you can, especially in 3D. Definitely worth the $$$. This is the first zero bathroom trips movie we’ve had all summer! The number of trips to the bathroom is in direct proportion to how bored the younger ones are. They didn’t even flinch - but they practically ran to the bathrooms afterwards! Ha, they were so enthralled with the movie they didn’t dare go! That speaks volumes!!!

Next we went to Chuck E. Cheese. Ah, apparently so did everyone else! I’ve never seen it so crowded. We had to wait 10 minutes for enough people to leave so we could go in!! I was seriously reconsidering, but Sean and Skye were literally jumping up and down with anticipation, so leaving was totally not an option! Fortunately, once we were in, it wasn’t so bad. The noise level was no worse than our house on any given weekend afternoon, and the kids didn’t seem to mind one bit. So, I didn’t either.

They got to play lots of games, eat some cheap-ass pizza, and buy crap with tickets they won. A successful trip! Then we went to my mom’s store to have cake and open presents. Sounds weird, but so’s our family! And it works for us. A good time was had by all!

I ate today:

a handful of popcorn
a few sour patch straws
a few bars of a Kit Kat bar
a very small slice of pepperoni pizza
about 10 shoe string french fries with ketchup
three bites of chocolate cake
a Lean Cuisine bbq chicken pizza

I got to have a taste of what I wanted without feeling like I pigged out. Not an optimal diet, for sure. But a couple of months ago, that would have read like this:

half a large bag of popcorn
large box Junior Mints
package of Red Vines
several large slices of pepperoni pizza
large order of fries
large slice of chocolate cake with tons of buttercream frosting, possibly a second
two to three slices of pepperoni & sausage pizza at home
one or two cupcakes

Yes, I’ve come a long way, baby!!

Note: I am SO FREAKIN’ SORE! It’s odd parts, like my hams and the backs of my calves. Oh, and my hip-flexers. OUCH. And my big toe-nails. They are tender. Like everytime I rolled over in bed and a big toenail touched the bed, it WOKE ME UP! I am hoping this will pass. And I’m now worrying about my half-mary. My toenails didn’t hurt AT ALL yesterday. In fact, I even mentioned to my sister how my feet were the one part of my body that didn’t give me a hint of pain or discomfort yesterday during the run. I hope they stop hurting soon!!!

Mt. Everest training day 1

I thought I’d signed up for a 10K. However, it seems like this was more along the lines of an introductory course to hiking Mt. Everest!!! 6.5 miles of steep hiking trails! Many of the veteran runners were surprised by the terrain! And the HEAT! MY GAWD THE HEAT!! Should have been called The Seventh Circle of Hell 10K! It was well in the 90s by the time the race ended! And they didn’t start it until 9, which seems awfully late to me. Especially given the heat there this time of year! OUCH! I honestly did not think I was going to make it, not even close. There were no mile markers and the water stations weren’t at the points they said they’d be. For my first real race, this one was a toughy! But I finished it, and THAT is what matters. Even when I thought it would never end, I kept moving forward. My knees gave me some trouble, but surprisingly little. The steep downhill descents were the WORST. Oh, my poor knees just screamed! But as soon as it leveled out, they stopped and all was well.

I am so glad that I have another 10K in two weeks. I’ll be much better prepared. And Napa is MUCH cooler!! Also, I think we’re running through vineyards up there, and it should be a lot more level. At least I sure hope so!!

So, that was my 10K. I am exhausted!! It doesn’t help that afterwards (we went back to my sister’s place to shower and change) my sister and I hit the Galleria mall and shopped for about 5 hours!! That may have been more grueling than the 10K!

It’s 10K Eve Day

This afternoon I’m cutting out of work a bit early and heading up to my sister’s. We are both running in our first 10K tomorrow morning!! I’ve laid off my knee all week and hope that’s enough to get me through. I’ve packed my knee brace and a truckload of determination!!

This morning for breakfast I had: a small package of whole wheat pita chips and a small container of roasted red pepper hummus. I’m trying to convince myself that this is totally health-food, but really we all know its just glorified chips and dip!! Ah well. It was delish and kind of a fun way to start my day!! Normally I have oatmeal or a couple of apples.

I’m having my usual grilled chicken tacos in low-carb tortillas for lunch… well, we’ll see if I have time for that. Just found out I’m going to take my grandma swimming for a couple hours at my mom’s house this afternoon. Like in an hour and a half. And I have about four hours worth of work to do before then. And I was going to leave for my sister’s at 3:30… what was I saying about how now that my mom is back I wouldn’t have to spend so much time caring for my grandparents?? Yeah, foolish foolish me!! Probably won’t have time for lunch. My sister and her husband will be making something super yummy and healthy for dinner though. They’re both health conscious, which is awesome!

I’ll post in tomorrow night with the 10K results!! Have a great weekend everyone!!
