First blog, how exciting. I sat here and stared at the screen trying to figure out something interesting to say but…nope. Didn’t happen.

Since this is a diet blog and I’m on..well…a diet, I guess I can start at that point.

I have been struggling with the battle of the bulge since I had my son. I’ll have to get into the story of HOW some other time. After him, I got married, had another kid and the weight kept coming.

I tried a couple diets, diet pills, not eating, just drinking water, some crazy whacked out shit called the white diet (only white food & drink allowed), and countless others. How frustrating it is to see a couple pounds down one day then the next it’s back on…because I ate a red food, no less.

Two years ago I got into a 4 wheeler accident, also a very interesting story, (a very rated R story actually) and I went to the doctor because I jacked up my leg. The doc wanted to test me for Type 2 diabetes which scared the crap out of me. As I sat in the waiting room waiting for the results I made a deal with myself. If I had Type 2, I’d do everything in my power to try to get rid of it. If I didn’t have Type 2, I’d try everything in my power to not ever get it. When he came back with the results I had already decided to change my life. Luckily, I was okay. He told me honestly that he didn’t know why I didn’t have it. I was 290 lbs, a fat mess, I ate out almost every meal and I swear my pores oozed Taco Bell grease. I didn’t understand why I didn’t have it either. Regardless, I was going to make a change.

I went on a 1200 calorie diet, cut out fast food, and any fried food, I started walking as much as I could. I couldn’t do much else for exercise because if I tried to bounce around my ass would bounce up and knock me out. For 5 months I watched what I ate and dropped 40 lbs. I was pretty excited! I went from a size 28 to a size 22 so that was wonderful as well.

In January, my auntie called me and we talked about running. I used to be an athlete. A pretty good one too. WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED??? Anyway, she convinced me to start running. I told her I didn’t think I could even run 1/4 mile. She urged me to try. My husband had bought a treadmill 2 years prior and it sat in our back room collecting dust. I dusted it off, got some running shoes that were 4 years old but looked brand new (I wonder why) and I started to run. And I COULD run! I ran 1/4 mile without stopping and I was thrilled and shocked. By May I was running 3 miles straight and doing yoga and weights. I was getting there! By August I was working out 4 hours a day…doing sprint triatholons pretty much every day. I’d swim a mile, bike 15 or so miles, and run 5 or so miles. AND lift weights. I was doing great! I was down to 220 and was looking forward to losing more.

Then I moved. I moved from my only home and to a state that I’d rarely visited. I moved from my old job that I loved to the same job, just different location. Everything I’d ever known was gone. Except Taco Bell.

Yup…I gained 40 lbs back in a heartbeat. UGH!

So this year, faced with a weight of 271, I decided to do something about it again. I joined MRC and so far am down 40. Thank God!

I’m now in size 18’s after growing back into 22’s. I can run, though this last weight gain injured my foot since I gained it so fast.

I’ve been doing this weight rollercoaster for so long so I definitely know how frustrating and difficult and impossible and ruthless it may seem.

But I’m trying.
