Cardio X Kicks Butt! April 6, 2010

This workout is tough! I almost didn’t think I would make it through all 43 minutes, but I eventually got my second wind and finished. I don’t remember the last time I’ve felt so tired after a workout that I’ve wanted to go directly to bed afterwards. I’m just glad I got my workout in instead of lounging on the couch like I wanted to.

I have a co-worker who’s also on a weight loss kick. I loaned her my 30 Day Shred DVD and so far she loves it. We have about the same amount of weight to lose, so it will be nice to see what kind of results she gets with this workout.

Okay, tomorrow my P90X saga continues with Arms & Shoulders and Ab Ripper X!

 

Week 2 of P90X April 5, 2010

Got on the scale this morning, and my weight was hovering around 175 pounds, so decided to get the tape measure out to see if I’d lost any inches. Not only have I lost an inch around my waist, but I’ve lost a half inch around my hips, and thighs so I’m not going to complain.

Today was Chest & Back and I found that it was a lot easier to get through the DVD today than last week. I even got through the Ab Ripper X DVD afterwards, but had to stop periodically because I was so tired. One small thing that I’ve noticed since starting weight training is that my bra and purse straps actually stay on my shoulders without me having to constantly adjust them to keep them from slipping off. (Gotta love dumbell presses!)

I kept my calories to around 1400 today and ate pretty clean so I’m hoping to see some weight loss next week.

Tomorrow is Cardio X and maybe a little cycling.

TGIF!!! April 2, 2010

Today turned out to be one of the nicest days we’ve had in a long time. The weather was supposed to be stormy, but we lucked out and the beautiful sun came out instead.

First thing I did today was open all my windows to freshen the house up and then got to cleaning. With this being a day off, I thought I would try to get some chores done so I could just relax Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully, the weather will be just as nice the rest of the weekend.

I did get all my exercises in today, including going 5 miles on my recumbent bike. The soreness is finally getting better, and stretching really does make a difference. I think the only thing I really need to improve on is my diet.

Well, tomorrow I plan on doing my Cardio X DVD and maybe head outside for a nice walk.

The pants fit! April 1, 2010

Since tomorrow is Good Friday, my company is closed, so we were allowed to dress down today. I was able to get into my size 12 jeans without having to lay on the bed, or suck in my stomach, so it was a good day.

I’ve been working out for the last three days and decided to jump on the scale, but really haven’t lost any pounds. I did do my measurements and it was nice to see I have finally lost an inch off my waist. I haven’t lost any inches around my waist since last October, so I was very excited.

Tonight was supposed to be Yoga X, but I decided I needed a rest so I’m going to do yoga tomorrow morning and arms & shoulders later in the afternoon. Hopefully, my body won’t get too sore.

I’m in a world of hurt March 31, 2010

I’m on day three of the P90X program, and I decided to do legs & back today. I’ve kind of deviated from the fitness guide when it comes to what order to do the workouts in, but it’s only because my body is so sore, I had to change things up. Next week, I plan on sticking to the workouts listed in the guide.

My co-worker, who’s on day 9 of P90X, keeps telling me that this program was designed for athletes and maybe I should think about doing some other form of exercise. His words just give me the added motivation to keep with the program just to show him I’m not a quitter and I can do this.

I did get a nice compliment from another co -worker at lunch today. I was heating up a lean cuisine, which I usually have everyday, and he said, “Why are you still eating those for, you don’t need them anymore, you look great!” It’s compliments like this that keep me focused on the task at hand - losing weight.

I Sweated Like A Pig And I Liked It! March 30, 2010

Just got done with day 2 of P90X and I’m totally exhausted. I decided to do the Kempo X, which is a cardio workout, and I couldn’t believe I was able to get through all 47 minutes without collapsing. This is a really great workout that gets your heart pumping, and the sweat pouring all over your body. I couldn’t wait to jump in the shower afterwards.

The only downfall is that I’m so sore. I almost couldn’t get out of bed because I hurt so much. It even hurts when I cough, or try to lift my arms over my head. Hopefully, this will go away in a couple of days.

Oh well, like I’ve said before, NO Pain NO Gain!!!!

No Pain No Gain II March 29, 2010

I just got done doing my very first P90X workout, chest & back, and boy did it kick my ass! There were so many different styles of pushups, which I had to do most on my knees, that I got nasty rug burns on them. My arms are so weak right now that I’m having a hard time typing this post, but boy do I feel good. My only regret - not being able to get through the ab routine at the end of the dvd.

I’m so excited to see what kind of results I will get once I get to my 90 days. I took some before pictures this afternoon, and will take some more at 30, 60 then 90 days. Eventually, I would like to post my progress pictures, if I can ever figure out how to do it.

Random Babble March 28, 2010

Stomach bug hit my household, so I’ve been out of commission for the last three days. Something good did come out of it though, after laying in bed watching a bunch of infomercials, I’ve decided to start the P90X workout program tomorrow. (Husband bought it last year and it’s been collecting dust ever since.) Should be challenging, and definitely look forward to posting my progress.

Hey, do any of you remember when you went from being called “Miss” to “M’am”? Somehow, for me, it started in my late twenties after a fifty pound weight gain. Not only did people start calling me M’am, but when I would go out to eat with my husband, who by the way is the same age as I am, and we would order drinks, the wait person would ask to see his i.d. and not mine. I couldn’t help but feel offended. I mean, hello, did they think I was his mother or something??? I would get so irritated, especially when I had to stare at my husband’s smug face the rest of the night. Oh, man if looks could kill!

So here I am in my mid-thirties and finally forty pounds lighter. I work for a manufacturing company and at times I have to fill in for the receptionist. One day, a vendor came in to see one of our buyers. When they were done with their meeting and the vendor was on his way out, he turned to me with a great big smile and said “Thank you Miss for all your help.” Can you believe it, he called me Miss!!!! I wanted to grab that man right then and there and plant a huge kiss on his smiling face. Boy did he make my day.

 

Hey 160’s Here I Come! March 25, 2010

I just got all my food ready for tomorrow and have my workout planned out, so I’m ready to start my challenge again. Not only will I do a weight workout, but I’m thinking about going for a run too. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 60’s so it will be nice to get a little sunshine and fresh air.

Since tomorrow is casual Friday at my work, I decided to try on my size 12 jeans just to make sure they’d fit, and I literally had to suck in my stomach to get them buttoned. It was only two weeks ago that I was able to get them on with no problem, but with my couch potato ways, it’s not surprising they’re really tight!

So ladies, I’ve decided to challenge myself and wear my size 12 jeans next Friday, no matter what!

 

Lost My Motivation March 24, 2010

Well, I haven’t worked out in about a week and stopped counting calories. Now the 12 week challenge I started with my husband has turned into a 9 week challenge since we’re starting all over again on Friday. I’m pretty bummed out because I’ve lost my mojo and can’t seem to get it back. It’s almost like I’m comfortable where I’m at right now and don’t see the use in losing any more weight. (Basically, I’ve been bitten by the Lazy Bug!!!)

It was so easy when I started last summer. I would get home from work, get changed, then run downstairs to start my workout. I always made it a priority to get some type of exercise in everyday and I lost weight like crazy. Now that I’ve joined a gym, I find that every time I come home from work, I want to throw on my pj’s instead of my workout clothes, and veg on the couch.

I guess I need to get back to what worked best for me, and that’s exercising at home!
