It's ok, you can push through all the negativity and keep going. If you want real feedback, have you thought about posting side by side's monthly on your blog. Or even just taking a picture each month for yourself to look at so that you can see your changes. I can tell you from experience that the more you weigh, the more you have to lose for there to be a noticeable difference. Our bodies are like a roll of paper towels when it comes to weight loss... that full roll taken apart one sheet at a time takes a while to take off the layers, but once you get the roll smaller, fewer sheets come off to make it look smaller. Myself, I find that it really takes about 15 and in some cases 20 pounds off when you are in the 170-190's range to really tell a difference. Good luck and keep pushing!

While some ppl can - I know going carb cold-turkey for me would be unsustainable. While I'm losing weight I also try to think if I could maintain this lifestyle when I reach my goal (last thing I'd want is to gain it all back) and I know a life without carbs is not realistic for me. And there are good carbs too, like brown rice or brown bread which can be incorporated in a good diet.

As for rice vs. bread, rice is more calorie dense than bread. 1 slice of bread is roughly 70 calories and 1/2 cup rice is roughly 120-130 calories. In the big scheme of things, it isn't a big difference, so maybe look at it from the point of view of what will keep you fuller for longer? What satisfies you more?

As I am not very good at calorie counting and I still love my carbs, I just restrict my carbs to 4 servings a day. I consider a slice of bread or 1/2 cup of cooked rice a serving. So overall I can have up to 4 slices of bread or 2 cups of rice a day, it's up to me how I mix and match. I usually have a sandwich for lunch so there goes 2 slices of bread automatically. It's good too as it ensures my most carb-dense meal is not at night. So far I've been able to successfully lose weight this way, it's only when I veer that I don't :) hehe.

I've been hibernating myself, cause it's been *oh-so* cold. :( But I second meoc7197, congrats on the exercise you did this week - that's an accomplishment you can be proud of, right? So you didn't post regularly this week, no big deal, this blog's supposed to aid you in your goals, not be an excuse to beat up on yourself on what you did or didn't do. Focus on the important things, 3 work-out sessions and 4/5 weeknights that you didn't have rice. You have more dedication than you think, the next step is just consistency.

I love Kit Kats too and once I get a craving for something, I will think about it over and over again til I satisfy it or get a new craving, haha! Damn advertising! For that reason alone, I have banned myself from the Food Network!

Maybe consider going to the library to study so that you are away from the temptation of food. Good going on getting in exercise this week too!

*push* :)
Remember, you haven't truly failed until you give up, cheesy but true. I've fallen off and gotten on the wagon so many times, it's like my own little national past-time. One of these days, that "getting on" will be the one - the one that will be your first step towards your new lifestyle. You don't know which one it will be, but you wouldn't want to miss that wagon, when the time comes. So just keep going.

For sooo long I avoided the gym because I was so scared of what other ppl would think about me. But you know what? In all honesty, most ppl who go to the gym are too concerned about their own workout or weight issues to worry about you. Harsh but true and I wish I discovered that earlier and hadn't wasted so much of my life worrying about what other gym-goers thought.

Yes you can do this but I tell you right now, your parents are proud of you if you weight 1 lb or 1000 lbs. As a parent I can speak and say the weight is not a deal breaker

Hi Esparinza, just found your blog on 3FC and for the first time I have felt compelled to comment on one. Only because, everything you've described in your posts (I've just finished reading it all) is how I felt when I was 22. I totally understand where you're coming from, in regards to weight, finding love, struggling and so much more. I just want to reach out through the screen and give you a big warm hug :). You must hear this a million times, but it gets easier and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It got better for me and it will get better for you too. I am still in my 20's and if need any support, am more than willing to be a buddy if you need it. I will check in your blog everyday. Hang in there :)
