Another 3 mile run under my belt…
Running May 8th, 2009That is 2 days in a row. What’s going on?! What is happening?! Could I actually be at the point where my mileage has FINALLY upped? Is 3 miles the new norm?! Awesome! I wasn’t planning on going last night, but my Mon night running partner texted me to see if I wanted to go. I figured why not since I probably wouldn’t go again until Monday. It would give me 3 days of running this week. She asked if I wanted to come to her house which frightened me for a minute. When we run from my house, we do a 2 mile loop. Her loop is a 3 miler. I had run 3.4 miles Wednesday night so I had some trepidation on how my knees and legs would hold up. But I went for it. I did really well until the very end. I would say the last mile or so was the worst. And a lot of my difficulties come from the fact I feel SO dehydrated by then. Like I am in the middle of the sahara desert dying of thirst. Plus it was HOT. H.O.T HOT. I felt like I was a million degrees. I am not going to enjoy this summer. I mean, I run at night anyway and one would think it would be a smidgen cooler… HA!
Anyway, I think I’m going to strive for 3 mile runs from now on. And maybe make one of my runs during the week a longer run just to get used to the longer mileage. I’m going to sign up for the Grand Prix race circuit that the local running store hosts every year. It starts in August and runs the whole year. Basically, you are signed up for a certain amount of their sponsered races and you get a champion chip to track your time. I’m going to do it b/c it would keep me running. It’s easy to say “I’m going to sign up for race X” and then never do it. This way, I’ll already be signed up. Most are 5k’s but there are some 10k’s in there as well. So I do need to work on my mileage.
Weight — slowly dropping. Down to 185 this morning. I’m very close to where I was right before I got pregnant with Addison. But size wise I’m not… this doesn’t make sense. At my lowest, I was in the 170’s and a size 12. At 185 I am still in some 16’s (although they really are falling off of me) and barely in 14’s. I think it’s my butt. Not sure what to do about it though. Oh well. Really, I don’t care what size I am as long as I am at the weight I want. Can’t do much about body shape.

OMG! You are kicking butt! Next thing you know, you are going to join the toenail club. I am going to have to start increasing my distance. I dread summer too. Although I made it through last year by going early enough and griping my way through the heat. Here, winter is what put the skids on my running.
Yep. If body shape could change, I would be sittin’ on a nice round rear right now. And that is not the case.

I’m with you. I think we are in for one hot frikkin summer. It is surprisingly cool today though.
Great job on the weight loss. We are even now! I’m gonna have to up my game!
Gotta get rid of this nasty bug though.

Dude, we just had a seminar in my running club about hydration. You need something to take water with you while you run. I have a water bottle that I bought at the running store that has like a neoprene sleeve on it that kind of grips your hand. It is a total P.I.T.A. but in my opinion better than the camelack thing or the fanny pack/fuel belt thing. I may need to move toward the fuel belt though, because my water bottle only lasted me halfway thru the eight miler.
Way to kick ass on the mileage!
