I hope that all you chicks out there had a much better thanksgiving than I did. Not just during the day, but the eating as well. I didn’t do that bad on Thanksgiving, but I ate something between last night and this afternoon that has made me ill. And if I could make myself throw up I know I would feel better, but I can’t. If I could, I feel my problems would be a lot worse than being overweight…I’m sure I would have an eating disorder. ANYWHOO….I have decided that s’mores and Captain Morgan do not mix. I should make it a public service announcement. Instead of not drinking and driving… people should not drink and eat s’mores.

I still feel ill. Hopefully playing volleyball tonight will help. Either the exercise will help me or it will jostle around enough to help me get it out (that’s really TMI,I know)

How’s that for an alliteration. Anyway, it was time to up my distance today to 2 miles. I should have done it on Monday, but since my run was really crappy last Saturday, I stayed at 1.5 miles on Monday. So today was time for 2 miles. I didn’t want to go to the gym because I knew — KNEW — that I would never make it 2 miles on the treadmill. So I went to www.mapmyrun.com and mapped out a little 2 mile loop in the neighborhood. I started out this morning and I DID IT!! I had to walk at one point, but it was less than a minute so it doesn’t count. I also realized that I need to add more songs to my running playlist on my ipod. The songs I have, I have 1.5 songs left at 1.5 miles. For 2 miles, I had to start the playlist over again. Oh well. It seemed to take a long time, I didn’t feel like I was running very well. But I guess the point is I did it. I’ll do it again on Saturday.

I’m here and so far okay

So the rumors flying last week…. yeah, not true. From what I understand happened is our COO had to lay off his cousin on Wednesday night. To make him feel a little better he told him “Hey, I may not be here in 2 weeks.” That got turned into “no one will be here in 2 weeks” when the guy laid off said good bye to everyone. Needless to say, most of us were freaking out. I didn’t do anything all morning. I mean, what’s the point, right? Why set up jobs that will be going out in 4 weeks when we will be closing in 2 weeks. Well, one of my co-workers went and talked to the COO about it and found out what really went down.

So we aren’t closing in 2 weeks, but who knows what’s going to happen. As of now, everything is okay until February because that is as far out as they can see (as far as what permits have been pulled for construcion and so forth). But that doesn’t give us any guarantees. Someone else was let go Thursday afternoon as well from accounting. Now, I don’t begrudge anyone their jobs, but the feeling across the board is that it was about time that someone in accounting was let go. No one from that department has been let go since my friend was let go back LAST DECEMBER!! All other departments have been cut. But anyway…. right now, I have a job. I am also working on updating my resume and putting it out there. Not that there are jobs to be had, but at least I’ll be ahead of the game.

Now, as for weight loss… BLAH. I am a stress eater and therefore have been eating. But I have been running as well. I did 1.5 miles last week. I was supposed to move up to 2 miles today, but my run on Saturday was crappy so I re-did it today. It was much better. I ran 1.5, then walked .25, then ran another .25. I felt better about it. I’ll move up on Wednesday.

I’m not really looking forward to Thanksgiving because I have NO WILLPOWER!! I am making a Turtle Pumpkin Pie and each slice has like 320 calories. I think I’ll just eat that and some stuffing. What is everyone else doing to prepare themselves for the gorge-fest ahead of us?

Pierogies with Sauteed Onion, Bacon and Sour Cream (and Peas)

For bigprof, here is the pierogies recipe I made the other night. I added the (and Peas) to the title b/c there are peas in it and I feel they are more of a component than the sour cream. You really wouldn’t have to use sour cream. Anyway, enjoy. It is SO good. I am definitely adding this one to my pierogies repitoire (and for not being of Polish descent, I have a substantial one) ***I must add that I cannot take credit for the picture, it’s the one that came with the recipe***

Yield
4 servings (serving size: 3 pierogies, about 1/2 cup onion mixture, and 1 tablespoon sour cream)

Ingredients
12 frozen potato and onion pierogies (such as Mrs. T’s)
8 slices center-cut bacon
2 cups vertically sliced onion
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1 cup frozen green peas
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup reduced-fat sour cream
Preparation

Cook the pierogies according to package directions. (I boil mine. The original recipe says to microwave them)

Cook bacon in a large nonstick skillet until crisp. Remove bacon; crumble. Increase heat to medium-high. Add onion, sugar, and thyme to drippings in pan; sauté 5 minutes. Stir in peas; sauté 1 minute. Add pierogies, salt, and pepper; cook 30 seconds. Sprinkle with crumbled bacon. Serve with sour cream.

If I’m going to be serious about this, I better start tracking again

Snack - Special K Protien Bar - 180k, 1 fat free tortilla - 90k

Snack - PBJ Sandwhich (what, I was still hungry) - 330k

Not that great. I need to think about what I snack on. I tend to just snack on whatever is avaliable. However, I did a pretty tough session with my trainer in the morning, so I probably evened out to where I need to be.

Well, I did several things actually.

First and foremost: I RAN 1.5 MILES LAST NIGHT!! WOO HOO!! And it was on the street. I am usually a treadmill runner. But since I didn’t make it to the gym yesterday morning, I knew I had to go last night. I asked a co-worker who runs and conveinently only lives a mile from me if she wanted to go with me. I mapped out a little 1.5 mile loop in my neighborhood and off we went. I did the whole thing without having to stop and walk!! It was nice to have someone to run with b/c it pushed me. We actually challenged each other. My legs are longer than hers so I run faster (apparantly my snail’s pace is a cheetah’s pace to someone else :lol: ) and she pushed me to run the entire time. And I also realized that street running is easier mentally for me. When I’m on the treadmill I DREAD watching that little arrow go slowly around the loop. Last night was more run from point A to point B and you are done - there was a destination involved. Kind of fun. But the point is, I did it. I’ll do two more of those this week and then try to move on to 2 miles next week to keep in line with my training for the 5k in a few weeks.

Secondly… I MADE IT TO THE GYM THIS MORNING!! I slept in my workout clothes so all I had to do was put my shoes on. I put my long sleeved night shirt over the short sleeve shirt I wore to the gym. I was a little bit late (it was 5:15 when I got there) but it gave me time to ride the bike for a little bit before my trainer got there so I could work the kinks out of my sore legs. Then we did full body workout and I am SORE now!! But I feel great! I didn’t realize how much I missed it.

I’m NOT going to the gym tomorrow morning. It’s supposed to be in the 30’s tomorrow morning here, ladies. That is way too cold for a FL native like myself. I’m like a reptile. I need the warmth to be able to function! So I need to run tomorrow, but not sure when I’ll do it. I am going to a Princess Party tomorrow night at my friend’s house. Maybe on lunch tomorrow b/c I can go run around the park and it will be cold so I won’t get THAT sweaty. Hmmm……..

Someone needs to kick my butt in gear!!

I was supposed to go to the gym this morning. What happened? Well, for one, I went to bed late. Two, I didn’t sleep well b/c I was sleeping in a friggin’ igloo (not really, but that’s what it felt like). Okay, okay, I know I’m going to hear it from all you northerners, but IT WAS COLD!! I found extra blankets for the kids, but we couldn’t find our heavier blanket. So I didn’t sleep well, and when my alarm went off, well…. I was going to get up. I turned it off, but then fell back to sleep and didn’t wake up until hubby’s alarm went off at 6. Oops. So that means I’m going to have to run tonight. Outside. In the dark. (hate that).

SO…. please everyone start yelling at me so I will get up tomorrow!! I HAVE to go tomorrow. I have a training session scheduled for 5:30 so I really don’t have a choice. I think I’m going to sleep in my workout clothes. The worst part about getting out of bed in the cold morning is having to get undressed. This way, I’ll only have to put my shoes and deodorant on.

Anyway, our chick’s movie night chat went well last night. There were 5 of us, I think. Me, tiny2b, bigprof, hungry4achange, and shallweshrink. It was a lot of fun I thought. We are going to try to set a day and time so we can do it every week, so if you would like to be a part of that, post a comment on tiny2b’s page and let her know what is good for you.

I’m on track with my food today (of course it’s 7am, so I shouldn’t be too OFF track). I made my oatbran and blueberries for breakfast and I have some of grabthebull’s chicken taco salad for lunch. She is right. It is SO good.

Feeling good about the day so far. I am on track with my calories even with the packet of cheese crackers I just ate. I believe my Aunt Flo will be here soon (she is about 2 weeks late) and hopefully that will curb these eating binges I get on. For lunch I had some chicken taco salad with lettuce and hot sauce. Dinner will be Perogies with Bacon, Satueed Onion and Sour Cream. I LOVE perogies. They are so good and so simple and can be made into pretty much anything. A lot of times I’ll just make some and slap some salsa on them. Heaven.
