I tried to just copy & paste the picture as opposed to pasting the whole advertisement, but didn’t know how. This came to me in an email, and I could hardly believe my eyes! Maybe I need to open these e-ads more often, I guess. The two girls modeling swimsuits on the right???? Well, I’d love to know what advertising genius is responsible for holding these poor emaciated, undernourished and starving-themselves-before-our-very-eyes children up to teens (and older) all over the world as GLAMOROUS!!!! Now, I know there’s been a lot of controversy in Europe over using ”size One” models and the message that’s sending to women about beauty and glamour and all, but I guess I just don’t follow these things closely enough. I have to say that I could hardly believe it when I saw this ad in my e-mail! That poor thing in the gold suit looks like she could model for a “feed the children” documentary! What IS this all about? A plot of the fashion industry to make more money by using less fabric in their designs or something????? Now, this is 3FC; we’re all here to lose weight - but the GOOD thing about this site is that it supports healthy weight loss and healthy attitudes about our sizes and shapes. Oh, this starvation of models in order to get work is a small thing compared, for example, to the Iraq war, but it’s affecting the lives of young (and older) women all over the world! Young women who are anorexic, bullemic - developing all kinds of eating disorders (which these models obviously must have, as well) to try and achieve the “ideal” - why, this is affecting whole generations of us!!!! Pretty scary - and definitely NOT glamorous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, I hope that putting up this sort of ad isn’t going to get me into trouble, but I really, really wish there was something we could do or say - somebody we could say it to, you know - to put a stop to this kind of exploitation!
Okay. That’s it for now.

Wow, she really is pretty doggone skinny!
What’s even more discouraging is that I think that if I looked like that my life would be so much better.
Some of us have a longer way to go than others….. ;(

April 17, 2008 @ 12:32 amI agree with you Ms. Ella. Completely. and I know I dont want to be that skinny at all. I dont want a pritruding stomach and a good muscle tone and a healthy sheen. I have been noticing this size 0, size 00 things lately too. I saw a picture of Victoria BEckham. She looked truly horrible.
BTW I am missing your comments and support in my blog a little bit.
I know I have been exasperatingly on now and off now. Anyway I am back on the mend and feeling better.
Lots of love,
iniya
