Okay so I really, really wanted to see a change on the scale this morning. And I did. I saw a change. But it went up not down! LOL! Peh, I know it’s just water.
I did a half-hour on the elliptical this afternoon and then was gonna do an hour of DDR this evening but after about 35 minutes I started having just the smallest twinge of pain in my left knee. That was enough for me! I immediately folded up the mat and shut the game down. My knees have been doing great, I’ve been able to do the jumps with no difficulty or pain and I’d like to keep it that way. So I’m gonna let it heal for a day or two. If nothing else I’ve learned to listen to my body!
It’s okay, I wanna get back to lifting some more anyway. So I’ll do that for the next couple days.
So for me I’m reporting one star for eating within plan and one star for an hour of exercise today. Yeeeeehawww! Tomorrow I wanna GREEN star!!!! =D
Late this afternoon I was feeling sleepy so I laid down on the couch and took a nap. When I woke up it was after 6pm and my son had already fed himself so I fixed myself some dinner. I heated up leftover cauliflower, mashed it up and dressed it like a baked potato with butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, and bacon bits. I also warmed up some leftover meat sauce (made spaghetti for my husband yesterday) and put that next to my “potato.” I took one of my Cheddar Bay biscuits out of the freezer and popped it in the microwave for 30 seconds and put that next to the meat sauce. Then, in a bowl, I made myself a romaine salad, threw in some diced celery and shredded cheddar and just a touch of ranch dressing.
It only took about 3 minutes to throw together this collection of leftovers (thanks to the magic of microwave cooking), but I took more than a half-hour to eat it all.
I’ve been doing that lately, slowing down and stretching out my meal time to last longer. I really like eating - it’s no stretch of the imagination to presume that I always have - but now I seem to treasure the experience even more. I find myself savoring flavors now like I never did when I was feeding my face with whatever was nearby. Why is that? When I allowed myself to eat unchecked, I didn’t value the food itself nearly as much! No reason to prolong the taste because there’s another bite coming and another one after that? It’s weird.
