Wooohoooo I played the DDR game for a full hour tonight!!!

Like I said I would, I didn’t do the jumps at all.  It affected my score most of the time, but I didn’t care!  Today I was there for the exercise, not for the score.  After about a half hour, my oldest son Eric came out and joined me.  I don’t know why, but it’s so much more fun when you have someone with ya!  He doesn’t play often so he got mostly D’s but he just kept right on going anyway.

My knee hurt a little when I started but after about 20 minutes it was warmed up and the pain went away.  I can feel it’s a bit swollen now but no pain at all, so that’s a happy thing.  My scale showed a full pound gain this morning and it’s been quite a while since I had that see-saw thing happening, so I’m really happy to be able to get back to my daily DDR!!

My mom invented these weird ham-and-cheese melt things when I was a kid.  They honestly have no name - if and when we have to refer to them, we just call them “those ham-and-cheese-melt-things,” LOL.  Well anyway, it’s the kind of thing that a person either hates or loves and I’ve always loved them.  It occurred to me this afternoon that I could probably have those things for dinner, if I used my low-carb bread.  So yummy!  I made myself a nice romaine salad and a couple of the melty things.

There ya go, there’s a name:  “melty-things”  … I’ll have to inform my mom.  =D

My husband and I went to my hometown in Wisconsin this past summer and stayed with my aunt, who one evening invited her adult children and their children over for dinner so they could all see their Florida kin.  Anyway, you’ll never guess what she served for dinner…  Didja guess?  Yep!  Melty-things!  Ha!  She told the story of how she visited my mom in Florida last year and my mom made these things and auntie loved them so she came home and made them for her extended family and they loved them too.  And did they ever…!!  They ate a LOT of the melty-things!  I sat there amazed as I watched Paul (50-year-old cousin) down SIX of them.  Me, I was officially off my diet at that point, but still, I only had room for two.

Okay so now that I’ve rambled on and on about the melty-whatever-they-are, I suppose I should at least give a brief description.  Honestly, it’s not that big of a deal (now that I’ve made such a hoo-haa about ‘em).  The ham and cheese part is just ham salad (you know, ham, sweet relish, onion, and a little Miracle Whip) with some American cheese blended in.  And then you spread it on bread and bake it in the oven.  When the bottom is toasty, then switch it to broil and take it out when the cheese starts to brown.

On my low-carb bread, each one of these little suckers is 200 calories but only 4 carbs.

Day #83 - Inspired by The Biggest Loser

Starting weight (7/15/08):    279.8    (1/8/08):    285.2
Calories/Carbs Goals (limits):       1400  / 30.0
Yesterday’s calories & net carbs:  1232 / 29.6
Yesterday’s exercise:  1 1/2 hours shopping/walking
Weight Yesterday:  253.8    Today:  253.6
Change today:  -0.2 lbs.   Loss-so-far:  26.2 lbs.  /  31.6 lbs.

I decided to watch “Biggest Loser” on the NBC website tonight (I thought maybe it would inspire me) and I got so caught up watching the first two episodes that I forgot to watch Dancing with the Stars!  I can’t believe I missed my show!  Eh, it’s okay, I’ll watch it tomorrow afternoon on the ABC website.  I did see a clip of tonight’s show, the part about Misty Mae and her injury.  Bummer!  I was really rooting for her (and was really enjoying seeing Maksim dancing again)!

Anyway, so I watched TBL (and even though they do portray a method of weight loss that is pretty unhealthy), I couldn’t help but get caught up in everyone’s stories.  I never really watched the show before (just caught a couple portions while channel-surfing) so it was interesting to me how it all works.  The weigh-ins are so suspense-filled, I found my heart racing as I waited for the outcome.  Ha!  So caught up in the drama of it all!

I was doing some math tonight and found out some surprising results.  Kevin and I have three favorite meals - hamburgers on low-carb buns, pizza made with low-carb tortillas, and chicken tacos also made with low-carb tortillas.  We have these three meals every week, at least once, without fail.  So for the heck of it, I decided to add up these meals and see how they compare with each other as far as calories and net carbs.

I was actually surprised at some of the results.  Okay, not surprising was that the hamburger was the highest in calories (676).  This was including the bun, cheese, mayo, ketchup, onions, and pickles.  Next were the tacos (2 for 518) which for me included shredded cheddar cheese and sour cream.  What surprised me though was the pizza (for two pepperoni pizzas, each on 7″ tortillas was only 368).  Also surprising to me was that all three meals totaled about the same number of carbs (hamburger 10.5, chicken tacos 10.2, and pizzas 11.6).

So tonight for dinner I had a nice-sized romaine salad and two tortilla-pizzas… and it was enough, more than enough!

Tomorrow I will try DDR again… only I will skip the jumps for now.
