Yep, on this day in the year 2000, my husband Michael and I looked into each other’s eyes and pledged the rest of our lives together.  It was, by far, the smartest move I ever made.  (Not discounting bringing three awesome children into the world, but they were pure wonderful luck, not a testament to my smarts at all, lol.)  Today is also the anniversary of the day Mike and I met in person for the first time.  I can’t believe it’s been ten years!

Way less importantly, today is Day #70 on my carb-counting journey… 10 weeks!  That first week back in July was amazing - I lost 10 lbs in 8 days - fully half of what I’ve managed to lose altogether (since July).  Looking at it that way, I was thinking that it took me 9 weeks to lose 10 lbs, but that’s not true.  I know now that the weight loss in that first week wasn’t real weight loss, it was the effects of ketosis on the millions of fat cells in my body as they opened and released excess water that they’d been storing.  Thing is, I’m beyond that now - my fat cells, though they will fluctuate in how much water they store, went back to normal.  So somewhere along the line in those last nine weeks, I actually lost 20 lbs. of fat.  FAT.  Not water.

That puts me at 2 lbs. per week which is exactly where I wanna be.

I went back and looked at where I was after 70 days of calorie-counting.  On my 70th day, I had lost a grand total of 8.6 lbs.  Forty-five days later, I gave up because despite having logged over 130 miles of bicycling during the month of April, my total weight loss after 115 days was… drum roll… 9.0 lbs.  Just four-tenths of a pound less than I’d weighed 45 days earlier.  Geez, no wonder I gave up.  With my funky metabolism and the effects of Graves Disease, the calorie-counting thing just wasn’t working for me.  At all.

I truly felt that carb-counting would be my last hope.  Thank God that it’s working!

Oh, I have been meaning to ask you how you figured out how to manipulate your html on this website… i want a counter…. I really hate the formatting on this site and am pondering just getting my own and just giving links to it on my 3FC blog. I just think that YouTube needs to happen. You know?

Oh, don’t sweat peaking at all my photos lol. I keep the naked ones hidden.

To add my counter, I went out there and found one, then copied the html the webcounter site provided and pasted it into the end of a blog entry - in the HTML tab. You know, when you’re in the “Write” post page, there’s the “Visual” tab and behind it there is the “HTML” tab. Be sure you’re in the HTML area and just paste the code in at the end of the post. Then switch back to Visual and see if it worked.

Then I just copy/paste it whenever that particular post gets to the bottom of the page.

And in case anyone wondered, the little number at the bottom of each of my posts is the counter when I publish. That way I know how many views my blog received since I posted.

Oh, and Paula… LOL (about the nekkid photos)

COngratulations on all accounts!! I know what you mean about the stagnation. For all my efforts since March, I’ve lost a total of 3lbs. Now I’ve sabatoged myself in there along the way, but I’ve also worked my ass off (literally) at the gym for weeks at a time and not seen any sort of loss.

Glad the carb counting is working for you!
