Soup! AHHHhhhhhhhh…………

Posted by: delitaagain In: New Me

Cabbage Fat-burning SoupMy current food desire is to make some soup. I’m thinking of using the Cabbage Fat-burning Soup recipe from allrecipes.com – mainly just because I like vegetables – and adding ground turkey for protein, maybe even a little turkey sausage for flavor. I would also add some fresh chopped kale or parsley.

As you can see, I’m not counting calories!

I really like soup, especially in winter, and don’t mind eating the same thing once a day for days. Plus, I can freeze some.

Next, I would like to think up several different garnishes or things I could drop in at the last minute to make it *different* each time. Maybe a little grated romano or parmesan cheese, a couple ounces of leftover grilled fish, or, just a nice, fresh chopped scallion or two for a treat.

Play along: What would you choose to garnish my soup?

As an Italian (only half), I’ve always added a quality romano cheese on my soups. It just adds that extra flavor that I so enjoy. If you’re not watching calories or carbs, then I would add some orzo pasta, or something along that line. That Italian in me is just stuck in Italian mode garnishes, LOL. I don’t know, maybe since it’s cabbage, how about a little corned beef in there?
An update on the gym with us, the coach for Frank suggested he stick with water exercises for now until he can build some strength. So we went twice this week in the pool and jacuzzi, and tomorrow I’ll go do a 20 minute free weight routine. I’m going to do one of their ‘forever young’ water classes on Friday. Frank will be away for 2 days, so he’ll go back next Monday with me again. I don’t know if it’s me but I felt like I needed a nap after swimming today!
I’m curious what your other readers on here will suggest as a garnish - talk to you soon - Sandi :))

Sandi - thanks. Romano sounds best to me. At this point I have not yet made the soup but still plan to. HEY CONGRATS! You are doing this! Delita
