Jiggity Jig ~ Home Again!

Posted by: delitaagain In: Updates

After an 11 hour trip which took 4.5 days, I arrived back in North Carolina only to fly out to Missouri 12 hours later. Stayed 5 days and got back Tuesday. I’ve also just celebrated 27 years in AA. WooHoo! =)

So - I’m back! And, I have a new home! My family’s 19 year old 31 foot RV. Yep, a real motor home is now my home. There is so much to learn!

So far we have: title, insurance, registration, towing and roadside assist package, 3 good tires (of 6), engine and other mechanical runs great, water system works for cold water in sinks, and, toilet works. Shower also, but no hot water yet, yes on microwave, fridge and heat. I’ve also cleaned about half of it. (It spent it’s last year living in a pole barn with vents open.)

 Still need LP gas for stove and hot water, water pump working for when not at a hose and generator tweaked.

Basically it is in very good condition with those few things to do plus more cleaning and a little body work. I’m thrilled. My family is thrilled. My friends are thrilled. People are BIG helping me with it - thank you, Jesus! GOD IS GOOD! Also, my pastor is letting me park for now at the church which is free with electric and water. Thank you!

Notice I didn’t mention weight loss. =>

My priorities are re-shifting with the new place and assignments and I’ll know more about what I’m doing later.

One quick food story. So I was at the mall today and realized I’d missed lunch. It occurred to me to stop by Chick-fil-a so that I wouldn’t end up *home* late and starved (important meeting tonight). Then, I remembered I had all the healthful fixins for a turkey sandwich etc right in the RV in the parking lot which was parked in a quiet place by a row of trees. I went out and had lunch.

How cool is that?  =)  =)

OK, I’m going to be keeping an eye on how this RV living adventure works out for you, because it’s kind of on the fantasy list for DH and I when we have no more kids in school. Way to go on the turkey sandwich. But since we do not have chick filet where I live, I would have been in the mall devouring nuggets. Isn’t it funny the silly things we miss when they are gone? In my mind, nothing has ever tasted so good as a chick filet nugget… now that I can’t have any. LOL.

You’re Back! Wow, an RV, very cool. I’m happy things are going your way. You are so right about ‘priorities’ change, you sometimes have to put things on the back burner for now. Well, you opted for a turkey sandwich over a mall eatery, so much better for you. Plus, you saved some money! Just keep in your mind how you got where you are with your weight loss, you won’t go haywire while priorities have changed! Welcome back, and happy RVing. ~ ;) Sandi

WOW! 27 years in AA. Congratulations! & congrats on the RV too, the perfect digs for an Odyssey.

My university has the only chick-fil-a in Michigan…something hubby takes advantage of every week, I suspect, but I’ve managed to say no all but one time in the last 3 years. I just know that once I say “yes,” a resounding “yes” to their tasty nuggets, I’m done for. Good call on the turkey sandwich. & good luck getting your new place fixed up…I love that feeling of starting fresh with a new home.

awesome! Your new home sounds really nice, and enough fixing up to make you feel you really made it nice & yours but not so much to put you off.

Don’t forget that moving is one of the most stressful life events, so it’s normal that you’d let the wt loss efforts fall back a bit right now - you cant maintain burning the candle at both ends for too long.
