Week 60 Focus: Breakfast with Protein

Posted by: delitaagain In: Planning

My biggest breakthroughs in learning about what my body needs came with the knowledge that Breakfast with Protein is KEY. So I pretty much always do have protein with breakfast.

So what’s my challenge?

I’ve also learned that I must give the first part of my day to God or I never get that quality time again, which includes putting off shower, getting dressed, breakfast, etc. until I have done that. I’m in full time ministry so this time with God is non-negotiable.

This means I often don’t eat for the first time until 2-3 hours after I get up, sometimes later.

Then I tend to eat too much (all good stuff, but a huge meal). And then I tend to skip lunch because I ate so late. The problems this causes are too few meals a day and creating a strong desire for too large meals or snack foods I would not normally choose.

My focus this week will be on eating Breakfast with Protein within 2 hours of getting up. One hour is optimal, but I’ve learned to start slow, set the bar low at first, etc.

Yikes, I better go eat breakfast!

What did you have for breakfast today? How long after you got up?

I had two scrambled eggs and a sprinkle of cheese in a low-cal tortilla. It keeps me VERY full! :D

Today was my follow-up appointment with my doctor after my blood work of a week ago. My average glucose dropped and my doctor was extremely happy about that (me too)!
Before the appointment I went out for breakfast to IHOP. I go there once a week for breakfast as long as my morning reading is really good. This entire week has been GREAT morning readings!
So, I’m a creature of habit when it comes to something that I like to eat I usually order it again. My favorite IHOP food is called International Passport with my choice being German crepes, 2 eggs, and breakfast sausage, and one cup of coffee.
Otherwise at home my usual is a Low-Carb tortilla with Better Than Eggs and salsa, sort of an egg burrito, and a cup of coffee. It’s become my favorite of the glycemic load diet.
I usually eat within 1 to 2 hours of waking, as long as I don’t hop on the computer!
Today was an hour after waking because of my morning appointment. This seems to work for me, so I’ll stick with what works.
I’m so happy you decided on the breakfast option first! Good luck and take it slow :) Sandi

Sandi - WTG woman! That is so great that you have eaten right enough to stabilize yourself that much! I was actually supposed to die from blood sugar in my 30ies and God and eating right have healed me from that, but I do know what it feels like. Conrats to you, and thanks! Delita

Some cheese and fruit- but way later than normal due to having a meeting I forgot about :(

I usually try to eat within 1-2 hours after I get up.
