Consistency is the Key to Victory

Posted by: delitaagain In: Lessons Learned

I’m learning. When I entered Eileen’s Challenge I was thinking it would be almost impossible for me to do well because I need to take a rest day from exercise at least every one day out of three. But, I’m so glad I did join.

First, immediately being in the challenge inspired me to quit taking my liberty with a dessert or such here or there (or, skipping meals). So, my food almost immediately straightened up.

And, yes, I still have to take at least one day out of every three as a rest day, but, the challenge has inspired me to do the harder workouts consistently, so I am usually getting two stars per workout.

And, I’m doing better than expected on the challenge, right up there with the top bloggers! WooHoo!

I’ve noticed that what is really helping me, more than anything, is my consistency. I’m not perfectly consistent, but with the help of this challenge I’ve really gotten better about consistency. It reminds me of a saying that I fully believe:

Consistency is the Key to Victory, or,

Consistency is the Key to success.

And I’m beginning to believe it. My weight loss had already slowed down before the first of this month so finding inspiration to get and stay more consistent has been priceless. Thanks, Eileen!

Finally, I’ve got my eyes more on what I’m doing right than what the scale says today. And, I’m learning that I *can* do consistency. Something I’ve had a big problem with all my life.

What’s your Key to Success?

Well, what comes to mind for me is in reference to ‘cheat’ foods. You know, the ones that take you temporarily off your diet/program. What about that food makes you sway? My guess is the taste! A little cheating is okay in my mind, but you really need to think about the after effects of that particular food. Okay the taste is good or even great, but does it bring up your blood sugar (like some do for me), does it effect your sleep, make you moody, and I’m sure you could think of more? The point is, think before you grab that ‘cheat’ food. Does this make sense to you?

Sandi, this makes a lot of sense to me. Doctors had given up on me (all my health problems). And then God hooked me up with the chemistry behind foods. I’ve learned that it is not just *emotional* eating but chemically induced changes that some foods do to some of us. You are so right, it goes so far beyond taste to the effect on my body, mind, emotions and life. Some foods (for me),like aspartame and wheat, require a HUGE payback. And, if I stop and think, seldom am I willing to pay the price. There are things I can do to help me stop and think and there are things I can do to set myself up for failure. You have triggered another post or three! Great to see you! How are you? Delita

My month has been a mess. I’m glad someone is taking over the challenge next week. I understand it might be alot to keep up with. I was wondering if Eileen bit off more than she can chew. Why we need some stars to keep us motivated and consistent is beyond me but sign me up. :)
