Whew. Yesterday I had such a breakthrough in my CrossFit workout that I am re-thinking everything about my goals.
I have only been a runner once in my life. At age 24, my husband and I both took lunch at work at the same time and met at the track to run 2 miles together. We only had 45 minutes for lunch, and ran the 2 miles in 15 minutes. Now he was a runner from High School. I just learned, and kept up.
When I started CrossFit (my workout program, see above) I couldn’t lean over to pick something up off the floor without bracing myself. I couldn’t get off a couch with out serious help from leverage. I’ve been getting gradually better but yesterday proves it is a whole new day.
In 15 months I’ve timed six 5k walk/runs. Mostly walk. By far. Yesterday I did one on a treadmill and dropped 26:05 minutes off my previous best: from 58:05 to 32:00 flat. Yikes.
I still want to take a POSE running course. Could there be another 15 minute 2 miles in my future? At age 59 or 60?
Losing this weight and doing CrossFit is changing my life, opening up possibilities and opportunities I’ve only dreamed of. And, boy/girl, is it FUN! Now today, my muscles are so trashed from Monday’s workout that I have take the rest day.
But I’m thinking and dreaming. Welcome to my world!
