Goals for March and a Challenge!

Posted by: delitaagain In: Goals

I have joined the March challenge over at eileen2blean and it is inspiring me to really focus on March, my food and exercise, which is really helpful! I encourage you to join us!

My food goal for the month is to get back to at least three meals a day. I’m already eating mostly lean protein, green veggies and fruits (even breakfast), so part of being *on program* will be to keep that up. I for sure want to avoid wheat and anytime I succumb to real sweets (like dessert) that will be considered *off program.* I had to define my goals this closely to know when I qualify for a gold star on food! =)

My exercise goals for the month are basically just to keep doing CrossFit but up it from one day on and one day off to two days on and one day off. CrossFit is very intense, so rather than using *hours* to qualify for exercise stars, I will use levels. If I do a workout at the buttercup level, that will earn one star, but a puppy level workout will earn two stars. This will give me the chance to qualify for 40 exercise stars, probably fewer than most can earn, but if I do something like play frisbee or go skiing or ice skating, I’ll count an extra star for every hour of hard outdoor exercise.

What are your goals this month?

thanks for the welcome back….I think my name was the same as it is now…but I can’t remember. LOL

I think my goal for this month will be to figure out how to move from the journals to the blogs, once again….that should take up alot of my time….oh…and exercise, of course! LOL

I tend to do well for about 3 weeks and then go on a small binge. I’m on week 2 right now and my goal is to hang on until the end of the month. Life will be chaotic by then so I’ll loosen the reigns a bit and I’ll feel ok about it if I do well until then.

Don’t you love Eileen’s challenge?

loosingme, thanks for following up to let me know! Sounds like you have good *first month back* goals. Congrats! You can do this. I find it much easier to stay accountable and inspired with the blog than the forum, but I’m thinking both or either are good. Glad you made it back! Delita

yes, the group is from the ever shrinking and now on the verge of extinction 3fatchick journals…LOL did you know there were “journals” pre blogs? there hasn’t even been a link to the journals for some time now on the site. Currently, Suzanne is trying to find a place for us to call home. Some of us know each other pretty intimately since we have been journalling so long. I think I may leave a link to the journals in my blog, until it is shut down entirely. I have been a member of 3 fat chicks since april 2003….almost 6 years! wow! I will have to take some time and read all your blog entries and get to know you. So nice of you to take the time to welcome. My group of ladies are outstanding at support, and I would like to add you to my blogroll as well. :)

So cool! I’ve just nipped over to Eileen’s blog and seen if I can join up, too. I’m hoping it will be a great way to help inspire me to get more exercise.

Delita - I’m slowly getting this blogging thing…
Thanks for your comments. I found Eileendover’s site yesterday and was thinking of joining… your comment put me over the edge so I joined.
I’m psyched! Thanks again.

Plan a whole morning of hiking with Jackson in the sunshine a little later when the tide is out… maybe we’ll be lucky and meet one of his pals!

I know CrossFit and it is tough! Good for you! I’m enjoying reading your blog :)
Do you find that when you have hard-cut rules about diet, then it’s easy to break them and get down on yourself?

Hi, Estella! Yep, CrossFit is challenging. Thanks for reading the blog! Feels great to hear you are enjoying it. I don’t really do hard and fast rules about diet but have learned that my best defense against eating wrong is eating right. In other words, the more *bad* (for me) foods I allow myself, the more I get sucked off track and the harder it is to get back. Mostly I put my energy into eating the *right* foods, enough of them and timely, then it is easier to avoid *wrong* foods, and much easier to avoid the first bite because after *just some* I’ll be headed down that slippery slope and craving more and more things. I’m too old to bother with being hard on myself. That ends up just being an excuse to fail. I’m just grateful to be able to get up and go again, and not look back. Very glad to see you here and thanks! Delita

Ug my goal is to keep up with the work outs- it’s been really hard and I think part of it is I just HATE the gym lol. I’ve been realizing I’m having more fun just popping in a tape at home and going at it. I’m thinking of springing for a used treadmill and doing that in conjuction with the 30DS at home. The gym just doesn’t feel friendly anymore and I hate waiting for machines :p

You go girl! Congrats on the weight loss! I have been away for awhile, I got a dogwalking job (yes, I am in heaven!!!) and that is keeping me very busy, unfortunately I am still dealing with weight creep…I think I may have figured it out thoush…I have been dealing with my sugar addiction with Radiant Recovery and it is a radically different way of eating, I think I may have simply been getting too many calories… They really discourage “diet head” over there… I am focusing a lot more closely… You are doing great!!! Keep it up!!!

beerab, I know the feeling. I don’t even do machines anymore, hardly at all because I don’t need to with my workout plan. And, I’m so glad. Still, it really takes focus to get into exercising (I just went through that). So glad to be back to it and yea for Eileen for the challenge! Thanks for dropping by! You are doing great! Delita
