My top weight was 300 in July of 2004. Seven months later, down about 20 pounds, I saw a picture of a woman about age 57 wearing a red dress for *Wear Red Month* in a magazine. She looked so great! She looked like I wanted to look. I saved it a long time but not sure I kept it. I still remember, though, how inspiring that picture was. She looked *normal* and just terrific. I want that.
By August of 2006 I had lost 50 pounds. The last 10, I got going so fast I had a rebound after that and started gaining again, completely losing focus.
By July of 2008, I had gained back about 34 pounds, and finally started the turn-around, again. August 10, I started dieting and I’m still going now, over six months later. I’m currently down about 66 pounds, so in new territory, haven’t been here since 1995.
The dream is to be that woman in the red dress by my sixtieth birthday, July 2010. Seventeen months from now. I have about 84 pounds to lose (give or take) and a lot of workouts to do to get some fitness and shape back.
CrossFit is my workout plan of choice. I learned about it from my Army-guy son and it is great because it is not only more effective than other plans but NOT AT ALL BORING! lol Very good for me. I got on it twice for a couple months each time and I’m a completely different person with the gains I’ve made doing only that much.
I got off it last Fall with a couple trips and changing *home,* all my stuff is in storage - I have lots of excuses! lol But just got back on last week after my son returned from Iraq and was kind enough to push me a little to work out with him. Very fun! Gotta feel good about a grown guy not ashamed to be seen lifting with his very obese Mom in the gym where his buds hang.
Besides enjoying the idea of feeling good about myself and my looks/make-up/hair/clothes, etc., I began a new career as a missionary almost two years ago and know my life is just cranking up. In the next 10-20 years, I expect to be writing a few books and traveling the world, many times! LOL Not only is that exciting, but I really wouldn’t mind not feeling like (or being) a blob.
I’d enjoy feeling good, having energy, being able to walk, fit in chairs, climb hills and stairs, create a good impression, handle my own bag — all kinds of stuff! So, I’ve been watching What Not to Wear and day-dreaming about clothes, hair, make-up etc. Just because you are a missionary doesn’t mean you can’t look nice! In fact, I think it is all the more important to present a very together look, something I haven’t really managed for years.
So, my goal is to *have it together* by my birthday in July 2010, when I turn 60. To be fit enough to do some of the CrossFit workouts *as Rx’d* (without scaling). To have the clothes, hair, make-up things solved for me and for my missionary/world traveling lifestyle. And, =) to have a red dress that makes me look fabulous! LOL
What is your dream and how do you keep it stirred up?
