Panic is Optional — Consistency Wins

Posted by: delitaagain In: Lessons Learned

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Good advice.

Why? Because we often don’t succeed at first. We often need to work up to success. And, things go wrong.

So, what stance do we take when our best laid plans are blown away?

Go again. Do over. Pick yourself up and start again.

Panic is optional, and highly over-rated. If you like drama, feel free. If you like results, you may want to take a pass.

Why panic anyway? What good did panic ever do you? Who cares if you don’t like it? Do you want to rave or get to your goal?

If at first you don’t succeed, begin again. Panic is optional.

Nobody cares how many times you flubbed it. All that matters is how many times you went back to it. And that you win. Consistency wins.

There is a quote I loved (a Chinese proverb, I think)

Fall down 7 times. Stand up 8.

Plus, I’ve read a lot about smoking cessation & it’s similarity to weight loss. They say that if you quit smoking for even 24 hours you will someday quit for good. Same I think applies to weight loss - those peaks and valleys are life, but it’s the effort over time that makes the difference, not the one day, one meal, one holiday season…

Great post, and a very true one. I especially liked the “Nobody cares how much you flubbed up.” That’s very true, and I’d never thought about it that way.
