Plan B: What to Do in Transition

Posted by: delitaagain In: Planning

Okay, I’m not going to be able to focus on everything during this time of moving so I’m changing my strategy to reporting one good thing I did today on food and one good thing I did today on exercise. My hope is that I will do more than one good thing on any given day. Meanwhile, I will continue to strive for weekly weigh-ins.

One good thing I did today on food: I had the things at work to make protein shakes and drank two, plus ate two apples. (Better than skipping meals).

One good thing I did today on exercise: worked out! First time since back from Branson: warm-up plus 5k in 58:05, then 10 doorway squats for warm-down. The 5k is a new PR (personal record) by 23 seconds! I’m baaaaack! =)

Good idea! It’s so hard to focus on the positive, but after your positive comments on eryn’s site, I figured I’d check in here to see what else you had up your sleeve. I love this idea for getting through a transition. Thanks!

Thanks to you! I’ve updated my post now with my WO, of which I am unduly proud! LOL I’m so for you and your plan to action. Yep - going to focus on doing at least one good thing each day on food and one on exercise. Sure it is okay if I do more, but I ought to be stimulated to at least do one. Enough to keep some momentum until I’m re-established in a new state. Thanks for the support. Sometimes I have to be reminded it is okay not to do *everything.* Delita

I love that in your abbreviated plan, you’re focusing on nly the positive! On what you’re doing right! Excellent plan!

inkheartmeg, thank you! It is funny I was struggling so much with what WO to do and even the WU exercises seemed overwhelming. So, I thought of subbing a walk for the WU, and voila! Why not sub a *real* walk for the whole thing? It ended up being exhilarating and I actually *ran* more of it than I ever had (think: barely a light jog). It really felt brilliant! Now I am stirred up to keep up the momentum by doing something tonight although it will be late, after church. thanks so much! But you have a blog, right? I can’t remember where it is? Delita

Eileen, thanks! Sounds like something you would do, right??? LOL I decided just not to focus on the negatives as that could only slow me down which would be counter-productive at this time. Whoa, now. Come to think of it, isn’t focusing on the negative having that same effect at any time??? Yikes! Thanks, Eileen =)

I like Plan B. I think that sometimes we need to set small goals and focus on them, without sweating the small stuff. And way to go with the new PR! My personal best 5k time is a few minutes… in my car. But someday I’ll be there with you!

neverperfect, yeppers! You go, woman. I’m still walking most of the 5k and when I started back 3 months ago, a 5k was beyond me and even walking up hills I would pause several times to catch my breath. Now I don’t pause and I run a few steps (think: heavy gramma running). It does get better. Start where you are!
